So now I'm kinda sad...

I ordered two WRMK albums the other week when we were talking about them. Got them on sale--was super pumped!

They arrived and I got them out to play with them. Divided my 2012 pages in half... and then noticed how the nice, bright teal leather was now going to show up on the inside all the time. I thought "Okay, well... you did have kraft before and you just didn't think about that... but, man. I'm going to have to get used to this!"

Then, this weekend I was getting ready to do another PL blog post and I placed my album on my NEW dining room table. I was telling myself to mind the metal corners... all the time forgetting about the metal BOOKPLATE on the spine. :mellow:

So, I put it down on the table, holding the covers up... when I heard a little ::skritch:: sound. I thought "What is that from?! I'm holding up the corners!"

Then I realized I didn't have enough light where I was. So I dragged the book... across... the... table.

:cursing:

:crying:

The damage is not terrible. But it's there. And now I think I'm so blue about it on the inside, I don't want to TOUCH the freakin' albums. :closedeyes: Gaah! I didn't know it, but I think I had it good with my AC one that I thought I wasn't happy with--because I'm certainly not very happy about it now.

Sigh.
 
I talked to my hubby about the actual scratches and he's not worried about, since he knows that I'm a closest "shabby, cottage style" girl. It's more that it is brand new and I totally *bleeped* it up... and it could have been avoided. Sigh.

I'm scared of my own albums. LOL! I'm more upset that I'm afraid of touching the albums now. The table I can get over... eventually. Someone had to do the first bit of major damage to it. Better it be me than someone else who'd be afraid of my wrath. LOL!
 
oh no!! I hate that when that happens... I have so many nicks and scratches on our kitchen table, it looks really horrible and I'm one of people who can't stand having a tablecloth on all the time.

The worse scratch was by my FIL... four years ago when he was here so my hubby could do FIL's taxes, FIL's clipboard took a nice mark out of my table. Hubby hears about that every time FIL comes to do taxes... :crying:
 
This is why we bought a reclaimed wood table for our dining room - because we knew as soon as we move, something will probably happen to it. At least this way it's part of the "charm" haha.

That really sucks though! I wouldn't have thought about that but the AC albums don't have any metal bits on them so I've never really needed to.
 
Oh, that really stinks, Nicole!!!

My dining room table is in terrible shape because of moves and homeschooling on it. But I would be really bummed about scratches on a new table.
 
Aww... so sorry! :(

My table is a wreck. We had it less than a month when a darling 3 year old put a big gouge in it with a hot wheels car. I could have been upset about it since here we were, newly married with no kids of our own, but instead I just remembered how my grandma used to laugh and say that something wasn't truly hers until it had damage. LOL Now the poor table has been through heck and back. We've had it 15 years now. This summer I plan to strip it and refinish it. I wouldn't even go that far, but the table top is stained. It's a light pine table and the finish has worn off over the years so the wood soaks up everything and my kids aren't gentle with things like Easter egg dye and highlighters. LOL
 
oh Nicole I'm so sorry :( I can totally see how that accident would happen. Why are those metal pieces so rough :glare: Right after my DH and I got married I spilled nail polish remover on the new dining room table. Sheesh, I know better than to use nail polish remover on the table.
 
I'm sorry that happened! I've always used postbound books and been happy with them, but this year for PL I got 2 of the Becky Higgins albums that also have metal corners and bookplates. Why the heck do they add those to albums? Just like you, I managed to scratch our dining room table in no time. I was also scared of using the album for a while, but it's been a month or so now and I'm mostly over it. Or at least I was...we just got new bookshelves and I put the albums in them a couple of days ago. Now I'm scared again! Between the metal and the ginormous size of the binder-style 12x12s, I can't wait to go back to postbound albums for next year. (I can't do it this year because the pocket pages are bigger than standard 12x12 pages.)

i know this is terrible. i tend to think of this like it is a small scrapbook. you will always be remembered of the time when you had the new book and the table was new and then it happened :-)
most of our furniture have some dent in them and it reminds us of something. like the story of our family in wood. and in say... two years the scratch will hardly be seen amongst all the other stuff that happened :-D
