but fail to understand what program I should buy. I primarly want it for organizing. I tried using picasa but I wasn't able to organize my alpahas or elements because it wouldn't read the files. I will continue to use photoshop cs3 for my photoediting and scrapbooking...
So should I just order photo manager 2009?

Picasa will read pngs, you just need to set to do so. I don't know the exact menu because I am at work but it is possible because that is what I use. I love Picasa because it was free and I like scrolling through my stuff and contemplating choices. When I get home, if no one has helped you out, I will reply with where you can set it.

If you have Windows Vista, the Windows Photo Gallery works the same way. It is what I use to organize all of my supplies.

I know that a lot of people have problems with ACDSee, but I'm never been one of them. It's an absolute must have for me to scrap... when I switched from PC to MAC, I was lost trying to scrap until the ACDSee Mac Beta came out!

Thanks Liz! I got it figured it out I think after I spend some time in organize mode it will do just what i need (you saved me $$$)

Thanks Beckie!!! Thats the first siggie I have made. So I am proud of myself!

Do you have a screenshot or more info on this? I have an older version of ACDsee but I'm sure my tags are probably broken since I've moved stuff around (not within the program). If there's something in Windows Vista I could use that sounds like a good idea.

I have ACDSee and don't have a lot of problems with it, but then... I run it with XP, maybe that is why. The only thing I had was with an older version of it my data base corrupted and so did the back up. Which meant I had to start all over again - and never did. However, I always have it open when scrapping and designing. FUnny thing is, last week I started again, had all my categories created and had started tagging (only do the previews). Well, yesterday my PC went bonkers and we had to format C: of course I haven't done the backup for ACDSee, which means everything is gone again, lol. Not tragic though, had not done much.

I am so glad you figured it out and I am sorry I didn't get back to you, my life is so hectic.

Sounds like you got your answer - if you do reconsider ACDSee, i would recommend ACDSee PhotoManager 2009. It is buggy, it does crash, and you do need a PC to use it. However, i love being able to multi-kit scrap and find what I need when I need it, it keeps me from re-buying things from my favorite designers and it's great for photo organization too. So I put up with it, and to me, it's worth it.

There are sales, this site is a good one for tutorials and coupons, HTH.

I took a few screenshots for you. If you have Vista, "Windows Photo Gallery" should be listed as an option under Programs. If you have any more questions let me know. Once you find and open the program, it is pretty easy to figure out.
