So I got a juicer...now what?

My parents got me a juicer for Christmas (at my request), but I'm not really sure what to try first.

Do you have any tips or recipes for me?

I'll probably start out with more fruit than veggies, but I have always put spinach or kale in my smoothies so I'm not opposed to some colorful veggies being thrown into the mix.

mmmmm - i love my juicer :) (actually - i have two - one is better w/ veggies and one is better w/ fruit juices :) )

i love green juice - and usually do something with kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, apple or pear and pineapple - with a little ginger and a little lemon juice squeezed in at the end.

for my juicer, it works best if i do some of the leafy/dry veggies and then mix in some watery fruits/veggies - going back and forth between the two to keep things flowing smoothly.

have fun!

It's all going to be preference. There is an excellent juice book out there I've read I recommend. I just wish I could share the name - it's packed up right now and in storage 'cause our house is up for sale. I think it was Juicing, Fasting, and Detoxing for Life: Unleash the Healing Power of Fresh Juices and Cleansing Diets by Cherie Calbom MS and John Calbom MA (Jul 30, 2008) because it did cover the benefits of actually juice fasting as well as provided a large collection of juicing recipes.

Anyway, we always loved apples, carrots, kiwi, grapes, pears.... Some foods don't juice well, like strawberries. I didn't like cantaloupe or watermelon. I also didn't like greens, but everyone is different. So, I recommend you try things in small quantities to see if you like it first before adding anything else to the mix. Most of all, have fun and enjoy :)
