Snapchat???

I don't get it. What's it for? What's the point? Other than the hilarious photo filters... :D

Kiddos convinced me to get it so they could see what it's like (they're not allowed to have it themselves), but I just don't get it.

Am I too old? Do any of you use it? Anyone want to teach me and convince me I need it??? :confused::confused::confused:
 
We have nothing but issues with it at school. Of all the social media apps this is at the top of my most hated. I say that not because I have used it much but on the deal with issues from it. That said pretty much every student in my school is on it all the time and with the amount of photos that circulate through it there is bound to be a number of issues.

I got it to do the filters etc... but I don't even know how to use it! My kids don't use it do they're no help. I think I deleted it now, I don't know how it works lol.

I installed it and cannot figure it out for the life of me and my son won't teach me...wonder why..hmmmm :\ LOL
 
My daughter uses Snapchat constantly. She and her friends just video a couple seconds of whatever they are doing and send it to each other all day long. I think of it kind of like moving selfies or video "texts". I'm not going to say that some people somewhere don't use it for naked photos (because obviously there have been warnings about that) but most kids just use it to kinda keep in touch with each other.
 
I love snapchat I post random crap the kids do, play with the filters, post pictures, BUT (and this is where my horns come out) the best part is, I can send secret squirrel videos to my friends and then, BAM, it magically disappears.

plus, it's kinda fun to use when the majority of your friends are in your phone/computer. I get to see them in action or they can make funny faces back at me or whatever.

My teenage sister convinced me to get it and I love the filters! My kids and I check it daily to see the changing filters and it always brings out laughs. I also use it to send silly pics to my sisters and then sometimes to other friends...though I feel like they don't want to see what's happening haha!

When it's on the forward-facing camera, press and hold on the face and the different filters will pop up on the bottom. Swipe through them and they'll change & adjust to your face. The face swap ones are at the very end. When you take the picture, there's an option in the bottom left corner to download & save the image. That's what we usually do. Sometimes we'll send one to my sisters, mom, or save it to My Story for others to see. (That's how it is for my iphone at least)

On the privacy thing... I'm (pretty?) sure you gals aren't sending n u d e photos out, but they aren't really deleted. Basically, NOTHING that goes out on the web ever disappears. John does information security. It is pretty much his life you could say. I could tell you some horror stories. Once you put it out there, it's out there, even with Snapchat.

That's what worries me with snapchat. I love social media and the internet (obviously) but man this app worries me! I feel for teenage girls and mean girl drama that surely comes with this one :(
 
yeah. my kids have no social media yet. I told Emma she can't have any of it until she gets a phone...which won't be soon

Yeah I definitely don't use it for that and I wouldn't allow my kids to use it. I just love the funny filters and my kids get a kick out of them. It brings some laughs and gives us some happy moments together being silly.

I have it and am still struggling how to open up snaps etc and reply LOL Sky has had to help me twice and I still dont get how to reply :(
 
I have it. It's mostly used for photos of Art sleeping on me, Art climbing on stuff, and Mason playing with the filters. I think Mason actually "uses" it more than me because he sends snaps to my siblings and his Nola (my sister's bff) all day.
 
I was just about to come in here and ask where Laura is...we snapchat all the time lol
I mainly use the filters or snap Kennedy (just like any other social media I use). I love it lol

I like it. Besides the funny filters I like the fact that I can share some quick pics that'll be deleted after 24 hours. I used to spam my Instagram account with everything, now I filter the keep-worthy pics (Instagram) from the nice-to-show-for-a-moment ones (Snapchat).
