Slides - photographic type

I think this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything with a search.

I have just inherited all the carousels of slides from my childhood - I'm talking literally hundreds of carousels. I want to have them scanned so I can have digital photos to scrap with or print if desired by my sisters. I DON"T want to do it myself

Does anyone have a company they have used and would recommend? I don't want to send them off to some disreputable company.

I just did this with my father's slides. I refused to send them anywhere! I took them to a local photography store and had them done with great results. Costco will do them locally and not send them out if its like 20 or less but the quality is not as nice--I used them for a couple we found after submitting the others.

Thanks Amy - I will have to check around locally and see who provides this service. We don't have any Costco stores up here at all, so that's out. Must be some private businesses around though that would do it.

I just bought a groupon a month ago to have ours done locally also. I was very leery to send my husband's entire childhood on slides away to another state (or out of country as one of the big companies does). The price was a little bit more than the big ones that you see on the google searches, but it was worth to not have to pay shipping and know that you can actually go to where they are working.
