Shipping Photo Books?

I have a 12x12 album that I'd like to ship - have you guys shipped albums this large? What's the best way to go about it?

I print my photobooks through Shutterfly. I've reused their packaging to send it on to my inlaws if we weren't going to see them for a while. I've done the same with calendars.

Yeah, I probably should have saved the packaging!! :cursing: But, I just didn't think about it in the moment.

I think you'll do just as well using a box and some padding. Since Shutterfly changed their photobook packaging, presumably to use less cardboard, I've had both of my photo books (2 separate orders) arrive damaged. The first was so minor I didn't pursue it, but the second was more badly damaged from falling on a corner. (Customer service was great--they reprinted it for me right away and it arrived in good condition.) I think their older boxes were more protective.

the key is protecting the corners and using a sturdy mailer. I’d recommend placing the album in a plastic sleeve first (for moisture protection), then sandwiching it between two pieces of thick cardboard slightly larger than the album. After that, place it in a rigid mailer or a flat box with a bit of padding (like bubble wrap or kraft paper) to avoid movement during transit
