I remember when I went off to basic (for the Air Force back in 1993 when I was all of 17) and it was heart-wrenching as it was my first time away from home alone. My dad surprsied me at the bus station to say goodbye. Man, that was a tough day. I can't even imagine having to say goodbye to my children, UGH!!!!!
