Holy Lord in Heaven! Have any of you lovely ladies had the privilege of studying for THE SERIES 7- Securities Exam (Stock Brokerage)?!?! I received the books today and I am already confused beyond belief in the first unit. Wowsers! If not the Series 7, have you had to study for something recently that blew your mind? How did you get throught it and did you indeed pass the test?

I need positive study vibes. =)

In about a year and a half I'm eligible to take my PE (Professional Engineer) exam.

It scares the pants off me. (Robin, no peeking!)

I actually need to talk to my bosses soon and see what they are willing to pay for/reimburse. I'm definitely going to be getting some giant books just like you, lol.

My plan will probably be to do a little bit each time. Once I really master one part, move to the next, but review the first every days to keep it fresh. Mix up where you study, when you study, how you study, otherwise you might get stuck in a rut (that's how I am anyway, other ppl are the opposite and have to study at hte same time, in the same place, etc).

It makes me wish I was still in college. I loved going to the Hub (sorta like a student union, but bigger) for hours on end. I could walk around when I needed it, get food (and caffeine!!), etc. People watch for a few minutes when I needed a short break. I'm gonna have to find a coffee house or something when it comes time for me to start......

Anyway, I'm rambling. But good luck! LOL!

this test is a timed 350 question test that is 6 hours long!! my attention span doesn't last more then 30 min on the eliptical at the gym. what ever will i do?!? your test sounds really scary too!!

Yea, it's a 2 day, 8 hour a day, test. The only good thing is that we can bring whatever books we want to the exam. People bring entire suitcases full of textbooks, lol.

350 questions in 6 hours is like torture. Worse than the SAT's, lol.

When do you have to take it? Or when are you planning on taking it?

Both my ex and my current sweetie have had their Series 7 license at some point in their past, and both are terribly ADHD. Does that help ease the terror at all? :)

BF plans on getting his CFA in the near future, and there's a big ol' test at the end of that, too, I think.

My mom took the series 7 years ago and I swear, almost had a nervous breakdown! She said it was awful!

Tons of luck and good study vibes!!!

ya, i have chest pain! you cannot take any study materials with you- at all. you cannot even bring in your own calculator. just yourself and your mushy brain. sweet. i am so excited...i cannot wait! i haven't scheduled to take it yet. i think i will review the book for the next month to kinda see where i am and go from there.

good luck to the big test takers

(am I the only one who thought this was world series related? of course I am realizing right now that it's not october . . . kinda feels like it though)

my husband is about to do this. Am I going to need to send him away so he doesn't stress us all out? LOL

I have a Series 7 and Series 63 license..all I can say is good luck lol

The test is long and tiresome but it's really not that bad. You can do it :)

Meg, how did I not know that about you!?

My dh had his Series 7 and Series 66 licenses, and I'll echo Meg... good luck! He said it was pretty rough... He failed the first time (missed it by 7 questions), but passed easily the 2nd time.

only 35% pass it the first time, so the odds are not in my favor. =) i know i'll pass...it just sucks learning something so foreign. my dad has 7 or 8 different security licenses so he should be able to guide me. thanks for all the luck ladies. i'm-a-gonna-need-it.

um b/c i'm too busy having babies to work a real job using it? lol

Hey Lizzy how ya doin with this?

My coworker (friend I went to college with actually) just ordered 4 books for us to use to study wtih. So it looks like I'll be studying soon along side of you! :)

oh my. so far not so good. i am having trouble finding quiet time to learn. thing is i am an auditory learner so reading just on my own doesn't register as easily. oye. it's tough, col.

Oooof that's definitely going to make it harder for you to study. Thankfully I'm NOT an auditory learner. I just need to get the books and start working through problems repetitively. Eventually it sinks in! LOL!

I'll keep checkin in with ya :)

I hear ya. I'm going to have to learn a whole mess of stuff that I'll never use, just for this test. Like wood design, and welding information, and earthquake stuff. My friend and I were looking through the breakdown of the test and there's a whole mess of stuff we never learned. So we'll have to crack the books hard core and start learning. He ordered copies on the company's dime, so they aren't our to write in and stuff. I might just get myself a copy to be able to mark up and stuff. We'll see.
