Can someone hook me up with a link to Janet's blog.
I'm pretty sure my son has some sort of sensory disorder. My sister, a preK teacher, agrees. I think when we go in for is 4 year check-up I'm going ask that he be tested.
I haven't seen Janet's blog, but I would suggest starting with the
Out-of-Synch Child by Carol Stock Kranowitz.
Here are some of Aidan's "symptoms" that may help you as well (this is not all of them):
-doesn't like to try new foods or textures. she hates anything with chunks or lumps in it.
-she hates wearing clothes and shoes. she will only wear them because we make her. lately, she has been telling us that her shirt straps or sleeves are hurting her shoulders. at the same time, she freaks out if we don't let her wear her clothes a certain way, such as if she puts her shirt on backwards.
-she hates being dirty. she flips out if she gets the slightest bit dirty.
-although she loves the bath, she recently has become afraid of it. screaming that the luke warm water is too hot or too cold.
-she has started telling me that kissing her forehead hurts her
-every little touch "hurts" her, yet at the same time, she loves being held and cuddled
-she flips out and has complete meltdowns at the slightest change in her routine. I mean violent, throwing her head and body around, meltdowns.
-she's extremely ticklish
-small falls or cuts are the end of the world, and she has a hard time forgetting them
-has a hard time being gentle or using too much force
-loves being tipped upside down
-could swing or twirl forever
-seriously hyperactive 95% of the time, and when she crashes, she crashes hard.
