Scrapping at 200ppi instead of 300ppi ?

Does anyone scrap in 200 ppi? Or have you ever? And if so, how does it look compared to 300?

I have several pics that I took on my iPhone that I would like to scrap with. I thought that if I bumped it down to 200ppi, designed in 8x8 instead of 12x12, and made the pics small it would work out ok... but I do everything in 300 (work and play/scrap), so I'm nervous about it.

Thoughts?

That will work just fine :) You might not be able to blow it up to a billboard to put on the highway - but if you're printing @ 8x8, and trying to preserve a memory with the quality photo you have, it will be just fine!

deanna, i've gone as low as 150ppi and it's still look "good". Most all of my girl's baby and younger years photos are like 640x480 and only 72ppi (they are 11 and 7 years old) and there is no way i could scrap those at 300ppi. here is a recent page that was scrapped at 150 ppi

there was a certain store that sold their designs at 200ppi so I know it can be done. I have a book where they compare prints for 200ppi and 300ppi and it honestly does not look that different. I think it would be fine to do it.

I wish I would have known this for Nathan's baby photos. I scrapped them at 300 ppi and they look kind of horrid!

huh... interesting... never thought about scrapping lower ppi with the photos that aren't up to snuff... thanks for the thread!

The vast majority of my layouts are 12x12 at 200dpi. I started scrapping at DSP & that is their standard. Later, due to RAM issues I just resized the 300 stuff down to it because it made it easier & faster to scrap. Since I upgraded my RAM a year ago and would switch back & forth depending on how many layers or if it was a template. I then got a new laptop in Julyhave switched over to 300dpi permananetly. I have printed layouts of both sizes in 8x8 and 12x12 and see no difference in the quality.

I do it with the older pictures from my very first digi-cam. I printed at 8x8, 200 dpi and didn't notice the difference. I did notice a difference if I tried to enlarge the photo to fit 300 dpi. It was not good. The picture was blurry and pixelated.

My computer runs way too slow if I scrap at 300 so if I'm doing a 12x12 page it's always at 200ppi. Only small things like 4x6 recipe cards do I scrap full 300 (because then it's so small it doesn't seem to slow things down then), and it keeps me from having to resize every element.
