Scavenger Hunt (for b-day party)

I have a friend that wants to have a 'scavenger hunt' for her son's birthday party. What she's described to me sounds more like a 'treasure hunt' where the kids would follow clues around outside to get to the 'prize' (in this case a pinata). I think she wants to have different activities at each 'station' for the kdis to do. Anyone done something like this? Any ideas??

I did one of those at my son's bday. It was just clues (each clue was a little rhyme that pointed them to different places - outside & in) and ended up with a battle with Darth Vader (it was a Star Wars party, lol). The clues were pretty easy (didn't want them to be too hard) and I didn't think to have them do anything at each place, so I can't really help with that. But if I can find my list - I can share the clue/poems if you'd like. Some I found online. Most I did myself (or modified from something I saw online). If you'd like to see them, I can look for them tomorrow

Well I found them, so I figured what the heck Here's the clues I had. You can see they were really easy. Some are kinda specific to the house we were at, but some are generic enough that she could probably use them.

I'm not sure about ideas at each station. I do know that the kids ran through this scavenger hunt so fast that I swear it lasted about two minutes. It was easy, sure - but the adrenaline was pumping so hard that he barely read one and was already running to the next, lol.

Anyhoo -- here are the clues I used:


Read aloud:

Welcome to training - where a Jedi you will become.
You must follow the clues down to the final one.
Once you reach there, Darth Vader you will fight.
And should you defeat him, you'll become a full Jedi Knight!

Hand first clue:

Now to begin, you must find your first clue
Head to the rack where you store all your shoes.


Go to shoe rack. Hide clue in shoe?

You often grill up burgers here.
Go lift my lid and see whats under there.


Go to BBQ. Hide clue under lid on the grill.

The place where you play, where you swing and you slide.
Under one of these is where your next clue hides.


Go to swing set. Clue under slide or swing seat.

Back to the porch through the door that you slid.
Up high in the corner is where your next clue is hid.


Go back to sliding glass door. Clue in upper left corner, on the inside.

I have four wheels and I drive little ones around.
It's under the hood where the battery is found.


Go to the power wheels car. Clue under the hood.

When your covered in grime, with dirt on your nose
The place where you clean is where you must go.


Go to the shower. Clue in the tub.

Out front I sit up high on a post.
If you pulled my cord, I'd ring out a note.


Go to bell out front. Clue where the cord is tied.

I have four legs but can not move.
Find me where you eat your food.


Go to kitchen table. Hide under it, or under/in something on it.

You're nearly there, the end I can see!
Look for the next clue under this decorated tree!


Under Christmas tree. Clue is under skirt or at the base.

Your final clue should you dare to try.
It's where horses once lived and Darth Vader now hides!


Go to horse corral. Tom waiting for battle!
