Scan My Photos Promo

I have lots of photos to scan from before I went digital, but I've been putting it off. I know lots of people here have recommended scanmyphotos.com, so I wanted to pass along this promo that I found here. You can get 1,000 4x6's scanned for free. You only pay $19.99 for return shipping, then you have to post a review on facebook, twitter, or your blog within 10 days. Considering 1,000 photos scanned is usually over $100, I thought this was a great deal! Now I just need to get my pictures ready.... :)

That's an awesome deal! I scanned pretty much everything I had and it was over 2000 photos. I really think it's a great service!

Oh man, PEOPLE THIS IS INCREDIBLE!! PLEASE DO THIS!!

I seriously can NOT say enough good things about scanmyphotos. I LOVE them.

You guys that did it, did you do any of the extra things like the "Photo Soap" enhancement or anything?

this is awesome...I've wanted to use them but just didn't have that much $ to spend on it right now!!!

thanks...I'll do it after work today!

What an awesome deal, thank you so much for posting this! I was just looking at their site last week trying to talk myself into spending $150.

This is very tempting. I'd just be afraid to lose all those photos if something happened.

I was thinking the same thing... what if I lose my pictures? Do they send back the originals?

They send back the originals with tracking included. So you follow your pictures as they come back to you. They send you an email as soon as your box gets to them to let you know they started scanning/received the box, and you get another email (usually the same day - they are SUPER fast) letting you know that they sent them back and giving you the tracking number.

I've sent in 3 boxes and never had a shipping issue. The USPS is pretty darn reliable.

LOL You've never lost a package then. It's happened to me a few times.

I think my first 1000 I send in will be ones I have duplicates of just to be safe, but this is an AWESOME deal and I can't pass it up!

Thanks for posting this!! I've been wanting to do this but didn't want to shell out the money - what a great deal!

Col - any tips for getting the photos ready for them?

Mary, just follow their guildelines. This particular promo is for 4x6 photos only, so make sure they are all 4x6, make sure they are all facing the same direction (front forward - if one is in front facing back, you will get a scanned back instead, they don't flip or rotate anything). Rubber band them in bunches and you're good to go.

I decided I'm going to do it as a "walk in". I'm only an hour away...I still have to pay the $19.95 though....but then I'll have it right away and won't have to worry about shipping it to them. I think I'll get it ready this week and do it on my day off next week!!

The blog post says it doesn't apply to walk in orders, you might want to call before you drive an hour. I thought the order form said walk in was ok, but better safe than sorry.

The order form did say it was ok...that's totally weird. I will call them and make sure...thanks. I hadn't checked out the blog post.

I just called them and the guy told me the owner had him put the walk in fee would still be subject to the $19.95 handling fee on the order form, and that is how they've always handled it. He had no idea that it was written anywhere on a blog that I couldn't walk in. I'm planning on going over next week (I don't know which day I have off yet), but I'll let you know for sure what happens. If it says it's ok on the order form, the guy told me it would be fine!

If anyone is planning a SoCal Disney trip before then, it would be an easy trip over to have it done.

Are you all actually counting your 1000 photos? Or are you estimating? Anyone get a number for an inch-high stack? I haven't even gotten my photos out yet.

If I remember correcty, 1,000 photos is roughly the capacity of a shoe box (not like, a snow boot box, but a sneaker type box, lol). I would just pull out everything you want to scan, and then make piles that you can count. I can tell you from experience that 1,000 photos is WAY more than you think it is, lol.

If it's goodt il April then I'm golden. I'm gonna get more pictures from my parents house next month, and then I can send in the last of Jordan's parents. Win!

I'm considering it but unfortunately most of the photos I want scanned are squares, or 5x3.5 or larger than 4x6. I'm going to start sorting out what I have & see if it is worth it or if I should just get the whole lot done & pay for it.

I didn't realize the 4x6 thing. Most of my old photos are 3.5x5!

Me too Kara. I just got into all mine today. I think I'm just going to buy myself a nice scanner. I don't mind doing it if I have something decent to do it with!

Did anyone use this promo? I sent in a 1,000 pictures (maybe a bit less) on Monday - received an e-mail yesterday that they'd scanned and returned them. Just check my bank account and they charged me $83!!! :-(
