Nothing like switching to a new computer and OS to bring out the brain farts! lol

TIFF files: do I just switch from the PC to the Macintosh when saving my layers?

JPEG: I did a search and found that a lot of people are saving their high res pages at a 10 (quality). Is this still okay? Does it really make a big difference in file size?

Optimize for web: could someone please share their workflow on this (actions would be amazing!!)? When you resize your image, do you resize 700x700 and 72dpi or do you leave it at 300dpi?

Do you run a slight sharpen on your full size page, or not until after you've resized it?

This is what I do:
after my page is done I flatten it, then run the unsharp mask at 100%.
Save the large jpeg for printing purposes.
Then I go to image size and change the resolution to 72, and then change the pixels to 600x600. (you have to change the resolution first)
Then I go to save for web and devices and make sure I save it for the optimized size of 250

Ohhhhh so you even do it on the 'original'.... the one which will be printed, not just for the smaller copy version that your posting online?

The file size is significantly greater if you go higher and I the quality difference is negligible IMO. If you had plans to print a large canvas, you may want the higher quality, but I never print larger than 12x12.

It actually doesn't matter what DPI you use as the number of pixels for 700x700 are the same no matter how you save it.

wow I have been saing mine at 12, so I will have to remember that 10 is just as good.....
 
I've always saved mine at 12 too Angie! lol

With the TIFF files, I just want to make sure that if I leave the settings on PC, that I'll still be able to open them on the Mac?

And when saving for web, I'm finding that at 700x700 and an optimized file size of 250kb, only gives me about a 58% quality. Does this make sense? I know it's only for posting in galleries, but I don't want to lose the quality.

After I've flattened the image, I use either hue/saturation or vibrance adjustment layers within the layer palette. I typically only adjust up to a max of +10. I have it written into my save for the web action :)

Why don't you go back and save a copy of one of your TIFF files with the PC option and see if anything funky happens on your machine? I'm 99% sure I've saved some of mine with the PC option and it doesn't affect anything, but I'd hate to give the wrong advice!

Regarding quality, I still save my pages 600x600 for that reason. Even at 600x600, some of my pages save in the 50-60% range. I don't notice too much of a difference until it gets < 50%.
