Savannah Info!

Cheyanne and I are going to be spending a week on Tybee Island in mid February (17-23). Savannah is one city I haven't spent much time in, though I have been there fleetingly a couple times.

What are some things we need to do/see while there?

TIA! :D

I've only been once a few years ago, but Savannah is such a beautiful place! My daughter and her dad did a ghost tour and enjoyed that. There's also the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace (founder of Girl Scouts) that offers tours most days. Chippewa Square is a pretty area. If you've ever seen Forest Gump, the scenes where Forest was sitting on the bench telling the story of his life to various people were filmed here. Also, Paula Deen's restaurant is supposedly really good, if you're a fan of southern cooking. As far as Tybee itself is concerned, there's a really cool lighthouse there that you can climb to the top of if you're so inclined. Lots of cool little shops and restaurants and tons of history!

My daughter went to Savannah a few years ago (she actually was at Hilton Head) and she said something about a train museum that she/her kids really enjoyed.

Have a great vacation.

Yes, do take a Ghost Tour is your inclined to that sort of stuff. My cousin and I did the one where you ride in a hearse that the top is cut out of and the guy that did our tour was so funny. I also say yest to the Juliette Gordon Low house, I was in Girl Scouts and this was my top thing to do while we were visiting there a few years back. It was a really nice tour. Also go to River Street where all the goodies are and you can ride the River Boat while there. That was also a fun experience for us. If I think of anything else we enjoyed I'll chime back in. And basically just walking around the main old part of Savannah it amazing so many pretty homes, churches, old historic inns, etc. Paula Deen's is also great but get there early in the morning to put in reservations for later that day for lunch or dinner as if you go the wait time can be 3-4+ hours.

Thanks Jenn! I'll have to ask Cheyanne about the ghost tour - lol - not sure if she'll go for that or not. The river boat sounds cool and of course a day of walking around and shopping is on the list. Not planning on going to Paula's to eat since southern cooking is so far off from the way I eat :D We're staying in a rental on Tybee so I'll be cooking my meals for the most part. I need to do some research to see if there are any museums, aquariums, or the like nearby.
