There really IS a 'place that far,' and Jeff hit that mile last night.
He ran from his apt to my apt to see me, as a surprise, which is approximately an 8 mile run. As I was driving him home, he was complaining abt leg pain but since he has been out of real running for the last couple months, we both thought it was just a sore muscle. He joked how many men did I know that really WOULD run 'any distance' to see their sweetie.
When I hadn't heard from him by lunchtime today, I called, and after some prodding and prying, come to find out his leg has been hurting so badly that it was making him dizzy and he could not put any weight on it. He was just going to 'let it go' and 'see what happens,' but I told him that it was unacceptable for him to not have it checked out. He could choose whether he went to his regular doc or the ER, but I was taking him someplace by the end of the day. Period.
That shut him up. *lol*
We made it over at the end of the workday where the FNP decided it was either (a) a severe shin splint or (b) a hairline fracture, but she didn't know which. She prescribed some painkillers and said they would call the ortho specialist first thing in the morning for an appointment for us. He will get Xayed at that point, and they will let us know which it is and the treatment he will need. She said to keep it elevated and iced as much as possible tonight to help with the swelling.
The ONE TIME a man should be babied... and he's wanting to take a shower by himself, go to the store, drive all over tarnation to pick up his son from daycare and then go to the pharmacy. Sheesh. If he had so much as a sniffle, he'd be rolling in bed, moaning, and wanting me to breathe for him, but today, he's all, 'It's not that bad, sweetie.' and 'I'll be fine.'
What he is most worried about is being able to keep up some kind of exercise regimen so he can still compete in the local marathon/half-marathon on October 18th. I hope that the doctor will let him have a little leeway so that he will otherwise keep off it 'cause I'm not sure how you keep a grown man with ADHD occupied while he has to sit/lie down and not move!!
