Spinning off of V's Christmas shopping post, I have a few more questions for you!

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not?

When Kendra was little, Santa never wrapped gifts (cause that's how ex-dh's family always did it). Jeff was appalled by this concept though, so Santa wraps for Chloe. He uses special paper though because that's how I figured out the truth about Santa when I was a kid. LOL

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake?
I'm a big fan of sea salt caramel chocolate chip cookies. Pretty sure that's what Santa will want this year. ;)

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
Kendra (who is almost 17) has asked mostly for classic country vinyl albums this year, so I've picked up several off ebay and local record stores. I think she'll love i! Chloe (almost 3) has asked repeatedly for a bicycle. So, she'll be getting a trike. She'll flip!

Favorite Christmas movie?
A Christmas Story (I prefer the 24 hr marathon - it isn't the same watching it on DVD), Elf, The Santa Clause movies, Charlie Brown Christmas

Favorite Christmas song (or album)?
I love Christmas music! My fave song is Mary Did You Know? Doesn't matter who's singing it... it's just a gorgeous song.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
When Santa comes, in addition to leaving the presents, he also completely covers the tree in candy canes. It's magical! The kids always love it!

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa?
Stockings are always from mom & dad. Never Santa.

Santa does not wrap the presents, but he usually puts a bow on from special Santa ribbon.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake?
anything with gingerbread or peppermint! This year I am gluten and dairy free so I have some new recipes to try out.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
My kids are getting Kindles and my youngest is getting a Cinderella Lego Castle!

Favorite Christmas movie?
White Christmas or Original Miracle on 34th Street. But The Santa Clause movies are my modern favorite.

Favorite Christmas song (or album)?
Bing Crosby- White Christmas or Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt. I do love Michael Buble's album and Straight No Chaser too.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
I like the tradition we started last year of decorating gingerbread houses. We all had a lot of fun. I also like picking out the ornaments every year at Hallmark.

All gifts are wrapped in a different paper per child, unless it's something big that needed to be put together, like a doll house or something.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Pecan sandies

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? Keira is getting a kindle fire she has no idea about, Cooper is getting some Star Wars characters he won't be expecting. And, we splurged at got the kids a Wii U, they will not have any idea that's coming.

Favorite Christmas movie? Christmas Vacation and Elf

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? So many, I love Vince Gill's Do You Hear What I Hear or Garth Brooks' Go Tell it On the Mountain.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Christmas day we spend in our Pj's, (I even told my inlaws when we moved to Michigan, if they want us to come to their house Christmas day, everyone has to be in pj's) and have a Christmas Movie Marathon until its time to go to my inlaws, around 4 or 5 in the evening. We always watch Elf and Christmas Vacation, Sean watches a Christmas Story while I make Gingerbread Waffles and he takes the gifts out of the packages.

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? Not. Santa doesn't have time to do his thing and wrap presents. His stuff also doesn't come in any packaging.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Sugar cookies. My mom has the best recipe for them.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? Ummm.... I still don't know what we are giving the kids this year, so I don't know. lol

Favorite Christmas movie? Christmas in Connecticut

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? Hmmm.... probably the Mariah Carey ones. I'm not a huge fan of her, but I love her versions of the Christmas songs.

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? Depends on the gift...if it's big then Santa does not wrap...if it's small, Santa wraps in a completely different paper. Although, last year I was super late with wrapping and Santa didn't wrap at all out of pure laziness....soooooooo, he may no longer wrap. LOL!

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Oh man....Peanut Butter Blossoms are my fave...last year I bought those Peppermint Oreos and dipped them in chocolate with crushed candy cane...super yummy and easy.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? Nothing just yet

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? Anything fun and festive....don't like the stuff that puts me to sleep

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? Santa gifts come wrapped in Santa paper.... no other gift is allowed to be in Santa paper (drives me nutts cause my mother in law uses whatever on the gits she sends and I always end up having to rewrap!!:mellow:)

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? I am a MAJOR baker around the holidays... 6 different sweet breads, 8 different types of cookies, and everyone gets their own pie (so usually 11). Then there are also a few mics items like truffles etc.... the baking is a huge tradition so I really can't pick a favorite cause they are ALL must haves.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? I haven't really thought about it yet :o but there are always a couple that I am so excited about cause I found the perfect gift. I get more excited to watch the recipient open the gift then anything.

Favorite Christmas movie? Definitely National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation... it's tradition that that is the first christmas movie the whole family watches after Thanksgiving dinner. Also love Elf, A Christmas Story, It's A Wonderful Life. The kids movies are very important too, and again it is a tradition to watch them all every year, so I usually set up a movie a night list for the month of december.

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? I like the christmas music of the 80's / 90's. Kenny & Dolly, the Judds, Jim Reeves, Willie Nelson, Alabama etc. I am not interested in any of the new albums, all my fond Christmas memories growing up are tied to those artists I listed and that's what's important to me.... bringing back the old family/holiday memories.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Everything we do is a tradition.... same thing every year for as long as I can remember. I think that's what keeps things exciting for me as an adult, what I have that I look forward to.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? santa does the stockings. Stockings are the only thing the kids can tackle before we wake up.... they wake up....wake us up..... go back to their stockings..... usually buys me an hour to slowly wake up, get my coffee, and camera and be ready for the mornings events.

Santa brings ONE gift for each child. In the past they have been unwrapped, but last year they were various art supplies so I bought special paper and tags and wrapped them. They were set aside from the rest of the gifts under the tree.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake?
My kids call them snowballs, they are the pecan butter cookies rolled in confectionary sugar... I think they are technically Mexican Wedding cookies. They are my favorite to bake (so easy! Practically just butter & flour) and to eat. :) Mmmmm....

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
My kids are going to FREAK when they see the trampoline in the backyard!!! :D

Favorite Christmas movie?
A Muppet Family Christmas. Unfortunately you can't even buy it anymore. :( My other top favorites are Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Muppet Christmas Carol, and Charlie Brown Christmas.

Favorite Christmas song (or album)?
Amy Grant's A Christmas Album. It's sentimental to me. My favorite songs are Carol of the Bells, Mary Did You Know and Chestnuts Roasting. I know you hate that one, Libby! LOL.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
Going to the Christmas Eve service at church... the latest one, usually 8:30 service, then coming home and letting the kids open ONE present before they go off to bed. Also strangely, I enjoy being a procrastinator... finishing up wrapping the kids gifts on Christmas Eve night while we watch It's A Wonderful Life.

Santa. But both of the kids kind of know he's not real. We still pretend. :)

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? I think our "Santa" is Bipolar because some years they are wrapped and others they are not :D

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Not really Christmas Cookies but I make Peppermint bark and some other form of Peppermint treat for Christmas :)

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? My mom had a really rough/heartbreaking Christmas last year so she has been eyeing this new Citizen Eco Drive Rose Gold watch and I am hoping to have all the funds to get it for her :) and I love getting my dad stuff because he was pretty poor growing up and didn't get a lot on Christmas and now just to watch his eyes and reactions at Christmas - It's truly beautiful and amazing!

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? Silent Night/Little Drummer Boy

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Not really a specific thing, just that every Christmas is the same .... Gifts with parents Christmas Eve/Christmas Morning, then to aunts house for Christmas Dinner, then to my Granpa's for his gifts and then we finish out the day at my other aunts to exchange gifts. I like this routine and would be amiss without it. It just wouldn't seem right but someday I suppose it will be different when I have a family of my own.

Who fills the stockings? My parents and I fill each others stockings -- My mom and I fill my dads, My dad and I fill my moms and both my parents fill my stocking

Gifts are wrapped with each kid having their own special paper. If it is a large item that has to be put together it will sit unwrapped already assembled.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake?
Ooh I love Peanut Butter Blossoms. I also love baking (and eating) Red Velvet Whoopie Pies. YUM!

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
I know my daughter, Savannah, is going to LOVE the iPad mini we just purchased! The other two I am still in the works of finalizing what we are getting them.

Favorite Christmas movie?
This is a toss up between The Polar Express and Elf.

Favorite Christmas song (or album)?
Ugh have to chose just one? I am cheating here again lol. Love so many but my absolute favs are Greensleeves and O Holy Night.


Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
We have a family get together Christmas Eve. We eat yummy food, play games, watch movies and open up our Christmas PJs.

Santa's gift that is the only one that comes on Christmas day is not wrapped - didn't want to run into that running out of a certain wrapping paper, haha...

My mom's molasses cut out cookies with almond icing... and a ton of sprinkles... and a very, very close second are butter press cookies... I've gained 10 lbs just thinking about it!

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
I'm not sure I am... the christmas spirit hasn't hit yet...

Christmas Vacation and Love Actually are the two that have to be played for Christmas to begin!

Hmm... Amy Grant's Breath of Heaven... I also love, love O Come Emmanuel, which is technically an Advent song, not Christmas.

Just being with family... I love seeing how excited Jake gets...

Hmm... I guess it would be from Santa - we open those Christmas Day...

Baking gingerbread cookies, but that's usually a few weeks before Christmas.

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? Yes I play santa and I wrap the santa gifts in a special Santa paper. My dad always wrapped the Santa gifts in Santa paper and made sure not to have any other wrapping paper with Santa on it. He had to change the paper every year too, haha! It was a fun tradition.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? We bake sugar cookies and then let the kids go to town decorating some for santa

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? The skylanders for my boys (they are Skylanders obsessed) and the box of dress up clothes for Gemma

Favorite Christmas movie? Grinch or Charlie Brown

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? I have a Christmas mix album on my iTunes that has a bunch of christmas CD's all mixed together. it's great!

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Wrapping up 24 books and having the kids pick one each day of December and then sitting by the tree and reading it before bed.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? Me :) Everything is carefully planned and thought out and then I even test it to make sure what I bought fills the stocking properly

Nope! Sometimes they'll have a bow on them, but that's it.

Hmmm... I don't have a favorite Christmasy type cookie, but I love making candies for Christmas! I make Ghirardelli English Toffee, caramels, fudge, "Reese's" Bars, and sometimes Oreo truffles.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
Doll house for my daughter and a real bike for my son.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
We pick a Friday night during December and we pull out our mattress and camp out in front of the tree. We watch Christmas movies, make popcorn, sip on cocoa, then we wake up to kids jumping all over us. :)

If you do Santa in your family, does Santa wrap the gifts or not? Santa wraps gifts in special Santa paper. And then he brings huge bags of gifts for all of us and leaves them on my Grandma's doorstep. Sometimes he stays but not usually (we see his footprints leaving!).

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? PB Blossoms are my fave of all time!

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? My sister & I gave each other concert tickets - we are going to see Little Big Town & Brett Eldredge! I am so excited! I love picking out gifts for my kids too, but I haven't decided what to give them yet.

Favorite Christmas movie? Elf & The Polar Express (the hot chocolate scene is my FAVE!)

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? I LOVE Good King Wenceslas - such a great message. But my favorite album is Andy Williams Christmas - especially The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. That song is just the epitome of Christmas to me - I remember decorating the tree with my mom dancing to that song.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? We go to the early Christmas eve church service at 4pm and then gather at my grandma's house for the most delicious chili in the whole world, then Santa drops off gifts and it's chaos and love and laughter. It's the BEST. I told my husband I will NEVER be able to give up Christmas eve with my family.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? Well, technically both. I don't want to ruin any secrets about Santa. But outwardly they are from Santa. He fills them while we sleep on Christmas eve, after he's dropped the presents at Grandma's house! :)

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? I like bar cookies at Christmas. We do M&M Dream bars and 7 Layer Bars. I have a cookie recipe I love and I'll make a couple of different kinds of that recipe -- you can throw in almost everything. I usually do chocolate covered popcorn, or spicy pretzels or something like that to give coworkers. In pretty cello bags.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? I'm hoping my girls love the Erin Condren planners I'm getting them. Pretty sure my youngest will because she's always doing her version of art journaling. Not sure about the college girl. She may love the workout clothes more. My son is getting a baseball game for XBox and they don't make them anymore so I found one still in the package on eBay. He'll be mad I spent that much money on it (he refuses to spend the money) but happy he has it.

Favorite Christmas movie? Elf. Actually, it's the only one I'll watch besides the cartoon Grinch.

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? I love Hallelujah He is Born by Sawyer Brown. It's a little off the beaten track but it's a great song.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? A themed Christmas Eve dinner (Mexican, pizza, soup, etc.) with my extended family, Christmas Eve service, reading "Granny Glittens and her Amazing Mittens" before we open gifts. It's an odd little tradition but we love it.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? Well, my kids have long stopped believing in Santa but they only admitted it two years ago. So until then it was Santa, but now we just acknowledge that I do it. I *love* filling stockings and tend to go overboard. It used to be awkward because stockings are an afterthought for my sister, and we'd have Christmas Eve at my parents' house and my kids would have a stocking plus stuff stacked all around it and her kids would have barely anything. So now we do them at our house (opening them Christmas Eve morning before we travel) and then they get another stocking -- mostly filled by my mom -- a my parents'.

Santa does not wrap the gifts at our house. He does at Grandma's house, though, and each grandkid has his/her own Santa wrapping paper.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake?
Generally speaking, peanut butter cookies that don't require flour so that I don't have to sub it out for something GF-friendly.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?
Nothing yet. The gift DD insists that she wants most is some remote-controlled dog. How can I be excited abt that?! :p

Favorite Christmas movie?
The only acceptable answer to this question is 'A Charlie Brown Christmas.'

Favorite Christmas song (or album)?
'Breath of Heaven' by Amy Grant is my very favoritest song. It is on my Top Ten Favorite Songs of All Time list for that matter. I also love most of the carols, with 'O Holy NIght' at the top, and Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas.'

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
I am the Queen of Christmas Traditions. We celebrate St. Nicholas Day, complete several service projects, read a different Christmas book every night before bed, go see the light display at the local farm equipment store, make cookies, and have a multi-part Christmas Eve routine. I also give each of the kids an ornament and pjs every year.

Santa does the stockings. The kids also get stockings at my parents' house. My sister and I stopped getting a stocking 'from Santa' 2 or 3 years ago, and I was really heartbroken abt it. :o

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? I don't generally bake any cookies during the holidays.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? I haven't done any gift planning yet, so the jury is still out on this one!

Not wrapped and its normally a big gift so if it needs to be put together then we do that the night of.

I like chocolate chip cookies. So that is what we make lol!

Cole is getting a new bike and a kindle fire (kids version) it comes with 2 year warranty for breaks and 1 year kid plan!! Cade is only one so we are just getting him a few small things.

Scott's dad passed away last year 13 days after my second son was born. He always read a passage in the bible before opening gifts at there house. This year we will be doing that.

I fill stockings that way if i forget I don't have to rush the next morning lol!

A bracelet my daughter really wants that says Aunt - she's so proud that she's an auntie :wub:

Sad to say but I really don't have a must see Christmas movie - we watch all kinds of them on ABC Family and Hallmark channel though. I still love to watch Charlie Brown Christmas, Rudolph, The Grinch, and Frosty though :D

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
Our Christmas Eve tradition of sauerbraten and latkes - I'm not religious at all but I grew up learning both Christian and Jewish holidays since my mother's side was Jewish. So on Christmas Eve we always had latkes because my grandfather would make them. We still do it every year in his honor so to speak. He died when I was about 10 but can still remember him making the latkes and I even make ours on the same exact griddle he make them on. (and I realize latkes aren't Hannukkah food per se, but my grandfather always made them for Hannukkah.)

Yes Santa Wraps gifts...at my parents house everyone has their own wrapping paper from Santa, here at our house we normally just put tags on the presents with names.

I don't bake that often. But when I do it's normally just easy sugar cookies or chocolate chip.

Uhhhh I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet....ok I take that back I have 1 gift for Kennedy lol . So I haven't a clue.

My favorite tradition is putting up our tree, and spending Christmas Eve together. We all get together at my grandparents house to open gifts.

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? I don't make any specific cookies, but I do make various stuff to bring to work with me.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? I am always excited to give my son his. This year I am also excited to give my mom hers, I decided on giving her a spa day. :)

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Nope, I work. I guess one of my favorite things is my Dad still fills a stocking for me every year. He does it himself without my step-mom's help and it's always interesting to see what he picks for me.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? Santa does. Santa is still magic for my son and I have no desire to take away from that magic.

Santa has no time to wrap. He is much too busy. He leaves everything sitting out in front of the tree for excited eyes to take in. :) He only brings 3 gifts per child so it isn't like there is a ton.

I hate baking. I have no favorite. I don't consider holiday baking one of my traditions. I do make fudge. Does that count?

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year?

No idea. We haven't narrowed down what we are getting the kids at this point. I'm usually excited about their gifts.

Favorite Christmas movie?

How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the movie, not the animated version although I love that too). I think I'm in the minority here, but I can't stand Elf. My second favorite would be A Christmas Story.

I pretty much love all Christmas songs, no particular favorite. There is a jingle bell song that I wish I could find again, I loved it and the CD broke and I don't remember who sang it or what it was called for sure. LOL

I love our elves and our Christmas angel. I also love letting the kids sleep in front of the Christmas tree on Dec. 23rd. We have so many traditions that pretty much everything we do in December is rooted in tradition.

The kids and I fill my husband's. My husband and the kids fill mine. Santa fills the kids'. Santa doesn't bring gifts for adults at my house but DH and I love our stockings. The kids like to help. :)

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? No particular favourites - I do something different each year. This was last year's effort (which are probably my favourites so far):

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Just the usual putting up the tree, driving around looking at Christmas lights/decorations on houses in our neighbourhood...

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? Santa - but my boys are on to me now and tell me that I'm Santa (which I deny!).

DH insisted that we do it, so Santa brings one thing that Rachel asked for. Now he's probably sorry about it because when I tell her she's not getting something expensive from us, she says she'll just ask Santa.

Snickerdoodles. But I prefer my chocolate chip cheesecake balls to cookies :)

We're planning to get Rachel and aquarium and a GC to Petsmart for fish.

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family?
Going to Christmas Eve candlelight service. Kids in pajamas, seated around the pastor at the front of the church. He reads them a book written by one of the church members, and then every child gets a copy to keep, as well as a dated ornament. Lots of Christmas carols and candlelight...love it!

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? I do...why should he get the credit? LOL
 
Mmmmm, I need to go back and read through more of these, but I can say already that we need a spinoff thread with all these cookie recipes. Sea salt caramel chocolate chip? Red velvet whoopie pies? Yes, please!! :)

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Ummm since I only know how to bake peanut butter blossoms (I hope that's the name) I'll go with them...I don't bake. I did make some peppermint bark cookies one year...the people at work liked them :)

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? Tickets for my son to see the Oklahoma Thunder vs Golden State Warriors...I haven't bought them yet but my little guy loves Kevin Durant

What are your favorite Christmas cookies to bake? Well, before my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease it was always sugar cookies. We are searching for a good gluten free alternative so we can enjoy those again.

What gifts are you most excited about giving this year? I'm not sure, my kids are getting older so they just want money or gift cards or specific items. Hubs and I don't exchange, we always do our thing in February/March where it's both of our bdays and our anniversary.

Favorite Christmas movie? Christmas with the Kranks and a Christmas Story

Favorite Christmas song (or album)? Silent Night

Do you have a favorite Christmas tradition in your family? Christmas Eve we watch Christmas movies from the moment we all awake until we all crash that night. We make snacks and hot dips/appetizers in crockpots so we just graze all day and do nothing.

Who fills the stockings? You? Santa? No Santa, so no stockings :)

Although sadly I think both of my old kids don't believe any more, they're too smart to let on though :) kids have santa sacks I made when they were babies, they get put out empty the night before and they wake up magically filled.
