This is a spin off of the thread about whether or not you display your scrap art... as I mentioned, I do in many ways. I also try to find unique was to use it besides just at home...


I am SO excited, I had to share. I JUST got this plate in the mail today. It rocks!

Here is the happy girl with her special plate. :) I ordered it for her to take with her when she goes camping with the Girl Scouts. She kept getting hers mixed up with another girl's last time so I wanted her to have something she won't get mixed up. :) I ordered her a water bottle like the one below to match, only it will just have that fabulous paisley paper on it that is around the outer edge of the plate. Love how this turned out, thanks, Libby, for such an awesome kit!!

The water bottle here is hard to see but it uses a Penny kit that I just love. She is going to use it for school next year. Again, she won't be mixing up her drink with someone else which is awesome. :)

Finally, here is my boy with his water bottle. It is made from the same kit (basically the same layout, slightly modified) that I did his t-shirt out of... Julie's Masked Marvels kit.

Oh Sheri, that is so cool! Is the plate melamine? My dd's would love something like this, but I don't think there's anywhere to get it done in New Zealand.
 
Those look awesome Sherri!! How expensive were the water bottles? They would be great for my synchro team.
 
I ordered both through Shutterfly. The water bottles are $21, I think, but I had a 40% off coupon and free shipping and another credit from something else so I didn't pay much for them. They are 20oz and the heavy duty metal ones so much better than I expected them to be when they first came out with them. The plate is melamine... dishwasher safe but not microwavable. It is 10" so a good size. We have lots of kid plates here (Tinkerbell and Cars, etc.) but they are all quite a bit smaller and the kids don't like using them much these days.
 
Love them! The kids and I haven't liked metal water bottles, but I may have to look into making some plates like that. My older 2 are outgrowing "kid" plates but I don't really want to move them to breakable ones yet.
 
I'm not a big fan of the metal water bottles either, Rachel. My kids do like them so I caved. They wanted something fun for their lunch boxes/and or desks at school. They always let them have drinks in class so personalized water bottles is great for that.
 
oh, those are fun!!! I'll have to think about those for Christmas gifts!!! I think kiddo's friend, Caroline, would love that!!
 
so, so cute!! i'm going to look into these too - such a cute, fun gift idea and my kids would LOVE them!
 
Oh, ignore my daughter's crazy long bangs. She is trying to grow them out but she doesn't like headbands or barrettes so she is struggling with them in her eyes all the time. I'd rather just cut them. LOL
 
Those are super cool! I might have to do some of these as christmas gifts this year. Awesome idea, and shutterfly ships to Norway, worth checking out if they ship to NZ as well?
 
i'm SO doing this!!! especially the water bottle!! would be great for gifts I agree!!

my daughter is in guiding and needs plates etc for camp so i might have to do that too :D
 
I'm pulling this thread back to life... I was looking into doing the waterbottles, but before I start, I was wondering if you had a specific sized canvas for the bottles and plate?
 
My plate started as a 12x12 layout. Here is the layout (with journaling added, left it off for the plate) so you can get an idea. It centered nicely on the plate. :)

For the water bottles the graphic I used was 4200x3000 pixels but that isn't a standard size or anything. I took part of a layout and added a background to it so it made it larger. You can play around with it a bit. If it doesn't look right in the preview then you can play with your image in photoshop and try it again. It is a big of a pain sometimes but that's what I usually end up doing when no dimensions are given.
