I prefer the separate PNGs. It's just what I used the first few kits I got, and that way, I don't have to cut each individual letter/number out when I need it.

Oh I hate sheets. THey're a pain, lol. I hate cutting out the letters I want. It's so much easier to pull individual PNG's into Photoshop. Especially if I change my mind on a word that I want to use. Then I got to go back and start all over (see - totally lazy).

I also Like the individual letter cuz it's easier to see (more clearly) what the alpha looks like when I'm browsing around trying to find one to use and I'm just peeking in folders. It takes quite a while for my slow crappy computer to bring up a preview of a sheet, and even longer to allow me to zoom in on it so I can see details. Separate is just easier all the way around for me :)

I haaaaaaate alpha sheets. Individual PNGs for sure. It's annoying to have to cut all the letters out that I want. It's especially annoying if the letters are too close together requiring more work than a simple crop.

I normally much prefer individual pngs, much easier for me, but with my new computer when I double click on them, they don't open in PSP so its kinda less easy then it used to be for me. Full sheets are super annoying though when they are too close and you have to do fancy cutting to get them out.

I go back and forth on this. I hate having to cut out a bunch of letters but my computer does not like having so many files opened in PSP. I usually go with sheets but sometimes prefer individual letters

Alpha sheets... so much easier to see what I have in one glance without opening a folder. I dump the entire contents of a kit in to one folder unless I have an alpha with individual letters, then I leave those in a folder inside the kit folder. I prefer to see everything at once.

I love full sheets, because I hate resizing. I just resize the full sheet and then cut them out. I will admit, when I first started scrapping they totally confused me. lol.

i am a converted sheet lover. i used to HATE sheets but now i much prefer sheets to individual. i usually have 4554390 layers on a layout anyway, and i hate to add the individual pngs. yes. i realize i'm adding the same layers ANYWAY...but it makes sense in my little pea brain.

Hmm. It's interesting to read everyone's responses. I like having them on a sheet. I think it makes it easier to see the full alpha at one glance before I open it in photoshop - like if letters are different colors, you can see what color the letters you want to use are, or you can see the way an L or G or Y loop and how it will relate to the other letters. I just put the whole sheet on my layout, and use the marquee tool to select the letter I want and copy it into its own layer (Ctrl+J) and then I hide the layer with the full alpha. That way if I change my mind and have to go back, the full alpha is already there waiting for me. It's easier in my opinion. But, everyone has their own process, I guess. :)

Individual, because the first scrap software I used didn't allow for cutting things out...so sheet alphas were all tossed. Thankfully I didn't use that software for very long, but some people still do, and whenever I find a kit with only a sheet alpha, I remember those days when I couldn't use them.

I used to be an individual girl, back when I used PSE, but now that I use CS4 and no longer have my project bin, I prefer sheets. I've been known to make my own sheets to make things easier.

As a note: designers, when you are making sheet alphas, please make sure there is at least a 10px border on the outside of the sheet of space...sometimes there is only a few pixels of empty space between the alphas and the edge of the sheet and it makes it really hard to select the letters properly.

This. I HATE sheet alphas. Hate. To the point that unless I really really really love a sheet alpha, I just delete it. It's not worth the hassle.

Plus I like how easy the individual letters are to see in folders. I always have to open up the preview to see the sheet thumbnail because it's so small.

Full sheets. I'd much rather cut out the letters I need from the full sheet then have to go through and place every single letter I want and then sort them out once I have them all.

This and This. I find that I end up spending so much time trying to carefully go around a letter with the lasso to get it just right, just to find the side is cut off cause its right up to the edge of the page. Ahhh. :glare: Then I end up closing it and using a different alpha that didn't come with the kit. I love indivuals, be it lazy or just time constraints. :

Singles for me too, for 2 reasons:

1. I'm also lazy and hate cutting them out individually.
2. My old age eyes hate sheets because I have to open them and then magnify it 100x just to see what the heck is on it :D With the individuals I can open the folder and see what they look like much easier.

Individual for a few reasons. I sometimes try out a few different alphas on my lo before I decide on which one I like, and it's easier for me to open the same letter from a few diff alphas and just drag them onto my lo, instead of opening all the files, then cutting the letter out of all of them. Also, I'm so used to individual files, cutting them out takes extra time, and messes with my flow when I'm in the middle of a lo... I won't use a sheet alpha as often as I'll go outside the kit and try to find one I like better that's already separated.

If you right click on a PNG file, select "open with", then select "choose a default program." Choose PSP then make sure the check box is selected for "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" then click OK. All your PNGs will open in PSP again :)

As for me, individuals all the way. I have an action that will cut the sheets for me, but I only run it on alphas I reeeeeeally like. It's such a pain to buy a kit then have to do more work. lolol I'm lazy, too!

I also like the smaller file size of the individuals. It takes a lot to open some of those big sheets when I only need a few letters.

Makes no difference to me, I don't think I have a preference either way... If it's a sheet I do the same thing that Lydia does... If it's individual I just drag and drop so it really isn't much different or more work either way

Full sheet- you resize everything at once, and it's just... easier to not have them all opened. I can pull them over in the order of my word (instead of having to flip through the PNGs I've opened). I just prefer it a lot more.
