RQOTD: Do your kids have a mattress AND boxsprings?

Both of my boys are sleeping on beds that dont have box springs. DH says we need to get them for them but I think we could hold off. I was also thinking of getting or building them a platform bed with storage underneath but he says no because of the box springs. So, what kind of bed do your kids have (my boys are 5 and 7) and do they have box springs?
 
my oldest does, but my youngest does not. the oldest has a double bed, the youngest has a captain's bed with 4 storage drawers under it - thus no need for a box spring.
 
my kiddo is on a twin bunk bed... which was mine as a girl... and which was my mom's when she was little... no box spring. We are thinking of moving him up the a full since the "guest" room is going to be changed into the school room... but with the mattress and boxspring - he is really high off the ground, so we would probably just use the mattress until he grew into it.
 
My 11-year old has 'unbunked' bunk beds in his room, so no box spring. My 13-year old has an Ikea daybed that pulls out to be a king bed. It has two thin mattresses, so again no box spring.
 
My son has a bed that my grandma used to use as a sofa in her living room. There are actually two of them in an L shape.

My oldest DD has a box spring and mattress and my youngest has a super twin waterbed.
 
The boys have bunk beds so no box springs. We have a tempur pedic on a slatted platform bed frame so we don't have them either.

If the bed frame doesn't need them to support the mattress I don't see the need to have them
 
My girls are 6, and just starting to grow out of their toddler beds!! lol, so they're as of right now just on their crib mattress in their toddler bed. However, we have bought them all new bedroom furniture - we're not unpacking and setting it up until we move though - and we bought them a bed frame and headboard, and mattress and boxspring sets. They are really high off the ground - the set is so thick!! I'm thinking they'll do fine with it - although I'm a little worried about little Chloe, who has broken her collar bone twice just from simply falling - but they don't fall out of their little beds often.

I wanted to add, that this is the kind of bed I had growing up, and that bed stayed with me even when I moved out of my mom's house. So I'm hoping that by buying these sets for the girls we won't have to buy them new beds for a loooong time!!
 
My kids didn't at our last station as they had the storage underneath. But moving her we switched up and got new bed. The kids each have twin frame, box springs and mattress. No headboards or footboards. They are 5 & 7 and don't like the whole footboard/headboard thing as they run into them and stub their toes too much. So for us this works. :)

I think this is right. DH and I have a frame bed, so we have a box spring and mattress. All 3 of our kids have platform beds (a series of wooden slats a couple inches apart to hold the mattress up) so they don't need box springs.
 
Another one here with bunk beds - so nope, no box spring. And before we had the bunk beds - my oldest son just had a mattress on his bed too.
 
Cheyanne had bunk beds for the past 6 years, up until this past Monday. No box springs with those. We took the top bunk off and stacked the 2 regular mattresses and she loves that. When a friend spends the night she pulls one mattress to the floor for said friend to sleep on. I've thought about it a box spring, but I'm not in any hurry to buy one :D
 
ryan has a bed with a frame but we didnt buy box springs and just used a big piece of wood for support.
 
My two are in bunk beds with just mattresses. All through my childhood & college I slept on a daybed without a box spring. Does your DH think a box spring = a more comfortable bed?
 
My girls have bunk beds so they just have bunky boards and mattresses and my son has a twin bed (that was my youngest brother's) and it also just has a bunky board and mattress.
 
The younger boys sleep in bunk beds with just a mattress. Jenna sleeps on a captain's bed with just a mattress. Cody sleeps on an IKEA queen bed frame with just a mattress, as do Des and I. We only have on boxspring/mattress set in our house, it is our guest bed. No headboard or footboard with it.
 
Moriah has a trundle bed, so no box spring... Isaac has a frame bed and has a box spring and Asher will too when he's old enough

our current bed has a box spring but our new canopy bed has slats to go across and won't be using the box spring

Well the 4 older kids have bunk beds so they just have a bunky board and a mattress. The little guy is still in a toddler bed so he just had the toddler mattress. But when we had less kids and they had twin beds or we take the bunkbeds apart they sleep with a mattress and a box spring.
 
The boys are in a trundle bed and Rae is in a platform bed - no box springs. But, we do use bunky boards.
 
Yes, both of mine have frame beds with mattresses and box springs. DD has a headboard, DS's headboard is in the garage as I'm in the process of refinishing it. DH and I have a frame bed with a mattress and box springs. I find having the box springs makes for a much more comfortable bed. I've slept both ways but I always sleep better when there is a box springs. There is a little more 'give' to things and I don't feel like I'm sleeping on concrete.

For a while DS had bunk beds with just a little bunk bed mattress (thin with the support built on to the bottom of the mattress) and it was awful. It sucked. He weighed like 30 pounds so it worked just fine for him but I fell asleep on it with him a few times and would wake up in pain. I decided then to get him a twin bed with the mattress and box springs before he got any heavier.
 
It has never occurred to me to not use a box spring (well other than for a bunk bed). I've always had both a mattress and box spring. Though with the antique bed we have, just the mattress would probably fit it better since our pillow top is so thick.

That all being said - Blake has a twin bed with both mattress and box spring.
 
It depends on the bed they have. My 10 year old has a Captain's Bed (with storage underneath) so she just has a mattress. My 6 year old has a regular bed with rails so she has a boxspring.
 
Sam has a matress and box spring....all the other kids just have matresses on twin frameds and it works perfect for them!
 
Our 10 year old is in a Ikea bed that doesn't have a box spring (just wood slats under the mattress). My 12 yo has a more traditional bed with a mattress and box spring.
