Retired Designer Kits?

I'm fairly new here, so this is the first time I've had kits in my stash made by designers retiring their products from SSD. I've seen a few mentions about not being able to use retired designers' kits for the challenges but after browsing around I don't see any official posts or information about this.

I am guessing the rule is that we can't use retired designer kits for challenges (since someone, I think Mari, mentioned it. So, are we allowed to post layouts in the gallery using SSD solo kits by retired designers (not for challenges)? If the kit is a scoop (ie: Dani/Jenn) can we still use it for challenges or post it in the gallery since one of the designers is not retired from the Shoppe? :huh:

Just wondering how this works so I can make an informed decision about buying anymore Dani/La kits. ;)
 
Scoops/dips you would be able to use for challenges and post in the gallery

Solos, you would not be able to use for the challenges, nor would you be able to post in the gallery unless you use a template or font from one of the current designers

Challenges require most of your layout using product from current SSD designers

Gallery posting requires something but no specific percentage from a current designer, so a template or a significant amount of journaling or title work using a font, and they would like it if you post it to their designer gallery.

I guess I'll be focusing on buying up those scoops & dips then. ;)
 
Are QAs the exception to this? If you buy one and the retired designer's mini kit is in it, can you still use that? Or is that a no-go as well?
 
I believe that QA's are fine because they're exclusive to SSD, so they won't be moving to the new stores with the designer.
 
I would appreciate a general clarification about posting LO's with retired products in the gallery... is it OK to do so? I took a break from scrapping for a while (many reasons- annoying computer, life craziness, etc.) So I'm starting to scrap and in order to ummm remember how to do it I'm scrapping with stuff I already have, which mostly is by current SSD designers but not in their stores currently... I promise I really will scrap with new stuff soon, but I do like to upload my LO's here... just want to make sure this is OK. Thanks! :)
