Recommend your external hard drive (2 TB +)

I ordered a 3TB Seagate from Amazon, then started reading some bad reviews on its use with Mac computers because it "unmounts" frequently and "times out," so I canceled the order. Now I need to find another option.

I have a Powerbook and would like to find an EHD that uses Thunderbolt, but it's not a must. Firewire is preferred over USB, but USB 3.0 would be ok.

Recs??

I use a Lacie hard drive with my MacBook Pro. I've had it now for probably four years, and I've had no problems with it. The one I had before, which we only replaced because we wanted a bigger one, was also Lacie.

Mine uses USB, but it's old, so they probably have different options now.

I have a 1TB Seagate that we use mainly for backup, and I haven't had any problems with it and my MBP. We've had it since 2009.

Lydia, I've never heard of Lacie, gonna go check it out! I would really want to have a dedicated EHD for my scrap supplies (I'm using a an old WD, hence the need for backup!).

My main external drive 'died' a few weeks ago . . so I'm on the look out for a newie too. Then hopefully I will be able to get the data from the dead one transferred to the new one . . *sigh* . . hopefully!
