I am just curious about where you stand on the whole gallery comments debate. The poll is anonymous, so please be honest.

it depends on the day :p I don't have a ton of time to browse through galleries. So when I do.. I try to leave as many comments as possible.. Some days, it's just one layout that stands out to me.. other days, it's a whole slew of layouts. My comments are always genuine though. I think you can find beauty or .. inspiration .. whatever.. in any layout, no matter what skill level the scrapper.
 
I go in spurts. I do try to leave as many comments as possible, and I always try to reciprocate. I may go through weeks without leaving comments but then one day I may leave 100. I also leave genuine comments. If I comment on your page, it's because something about it caught my eye. I usually tend to leave at least one thing that I like about the layout
 
i voted other cause i haven't been leaving that much love recently. in the past i would just cruise around and leave love till i couldn't anymore. i also always try to reciprocate at all galleries i post to.
 
I voted other as well...I don't get into the gallery very often, and usually if I leave praise it's a layout that has captured my eye...unless I'm playing the layout lovin's game or something like that, then I see more layouts. Like La, though, my comments are always genuine.
 
Unless I'm playing the praise game it's usually only if something catches my eye..I don't really reciprocrate much and it's only b/c I don't expect reciprication for my praise... I don't want someone to leave a comment just b/c I did..I'd rather have it b/c they really like my page kwim?
 
I pick the LOs that inspire me to leave love on, or ones I found extraordinary. There are times, usually on Sundays, that I run around the gallery and leave love.

I don't always reciprocate what I get, but I try. I don't want anyone to feel obligated to comment on me, just because I left a comment for them. My comments are always genuine, I don't leave love just for the sake of doing so.
 
I chose other. I don't get to browse the main gallery very often, but I always look at and comment on every layout that is in my designer gallery. I also try to go through and search for my name and comment on anyone who used my stuff but didn't know that they could post it in my designer gallery. :) I know I miss some that way though.
 
I try to leave love for everyone that leaves me love. Sometimes it takes me a month to get to it, but I try ever since I realized it was rude to not be doing it (but I do go to their main gallery and choose a LO of theirs that really stands out to me). I also try to leave random love on LOs that I really like, too. I always leave geniune love though and try to point out what I like about every LO. If it just says, oh, its gorgeous, I just love it, its cause I loved the whole thing and it just really made me stop and say gorgeous, the whole thing.

I know its not true, but I always feel like the designer galleries are for the CT. I don't know why. lol
 
I chose other.. sometimes I leave lots of love and other days I barely go in the gallery. I don't play praise games anymore because it just took up a lot of time.

I do comment on layouts I generally like and not because I have to. I do try to reciprocate when someone comments on my layouts but I don't always do it. I did leave love for everyone that did a spinalift of my gallery last week :)
 
I chose other. Some days I will leave love on pages and pages of layouts, but lately I just haven't gotten to it. :( I feel awful, but I just haven't been completely with it lately. I never expect people to reciprocate though. It doesn't bother me in the least if I leave love for someone but they don't leave love for me back.
 
I voted for the first option because I do leave a lot of praise. Some through praise games, some just because I like the layout and some because I feel bad they don't have any comments.

One thing I don't do is reciprocate comments. I know it's kind of one of those unwritten scrap rules but because I tend to be more proactive with my comments, I've just never found it to be a good use of my time. I'd rather leave new comments than hunt through comments I've received to find the one or two that weren't in response to a comment I already left. Even so, I leave a LOT more comments than I get in return so I have a feeling that the majority of people don't return comments either.
 
I picked other. When I was actively scrapping a lot, I would just ramble through the gallery and leave love all the time. Now I'm not scrapping as much, but I try to just pop in and leave a little love at least once a week. I always leave genuine praise, not just a "hey this is great" post and run kinda thing. I like to be specific.

I also don't reciprocate comments. I don't expect someone to hunt down my gallery and a LO just because I left them a comment.

1) praise/sweet lovin' /etc. games - not cool if you don't reciprocate. There is always something to praise on a page. May not get as deep in the thread as I'd like, but I do try.

2) Love love love getting comments from ultra-talented scrappers/Sugarbabes/wonder goddesses, but feel totally like a dork when I get to their galleries and every single one of their pages has 67 plus comments on them. Already. Are their hearts going to stir with joy with one more potentially badly worded slightly stalker-ish ooh and ah of compositional praise?
I usually end up eventually sending them a PM trying to convey some of the joy their praise has brought me. When I can get the words through my fingers.

3) I am a slacker. By my own little snooty rules, I have not been leaving a comment on every page I have visited. Need to work on that.

Well, I really hate to see a layout go without at least one comment. I have, at times, gone through and left love for every LO for pages and pages. Although some people are more talented than others, we all work hard on our layouts and we all know that it feels good to get some kind of praise.

That being said - with a full time job and three kids (4 if you count dh) I don't always have to time to leave loads of love so I will just comment on the ones that really catch my eye but I feel bad as I see all the layouts with big fat 0's in the comment count.

I usually participate in the Sweet Layout Lovin' thread and leave about a page worth of love. And sometimes I'll go back and reciprocate the love that is left for me. It just depends on how busy my week is. :)
 
I voted other because while I dont leave a whole lot of comments I do try to reciprocate if someone comments on one of mine. I also try to leave a couple of comments each time I upload something. Also when I really love something I will leave a comment on a layout. So basically if something pops out in the gallery and makes me want to click on it I usually leave a comment
 
I voted that I leave love on layouts that I'm inspired or impressed by, but that being said, I'll reciprocate too...not always, but a lot of the time.
 
Other - whenever I upload a layout, I pick 10-12 layouts and comment on them, sometimes as few as 6-8 depending on how much time I have. I also play the praise game from time to time. I'm not good at reciprocating. I'm more of a pay it forward sort. :)
 
I am fickle. Some days I just start with the newest first. I go to that gallery and find any layouts that strike me. Then I move to the next gallery and do the same. So sometimes you may find 3 comments from me all on the same day. I like to keep going, at least through the first page of the gallery. I will go through the first 8 or 9 pages and do that. If I post a layout I do the gallery game and then I hit the first page of newest first. Every now and then I will be blocked so i will go through my gallery and return praise looking for inspiration. I just love to praise.

I love the gallery and try to hit it hard at least a day or two a week-I love looking at all the pages...because you all inspire me so much-and to see your pages makes my heart happy!

Depends on how busy I am but try to spend a few minutes each day commenting at a couple forums...eveyone needs a little love.
 
I leave comments for those who do for me........although it might take me 2 weeks to reciprocate (I know, bad me). When I can find the time I love going through the gallery and posting comments on the pages that really pop out at me
 
Other for me. It just depends on how much time I have and the reason I'm in the gallery in the first place. I do try to reciprocate when I get a chance 'cause I don't want them to think the comment wasn't appreciated. Sometimes, I'm looking for something specific, and I'll comment only on the ones that catch my eye during the process. Sometimes, I leave a couple of pages worth just because I'm in the mood. Sometimes, I'm just hitting my designer gallery and leaving love for the people who are playing with my designs.
 
I leave love only for something that's caught my imagination or I enjoy, what ever it is.

I really hope that any one who leaves love for me only does so 'cos they like my stuff, for whatever reason the pic caught their eye.

How can each of us improve or develop if we aren't sincere with one another? The things people write do mean alot to the recipient (well, it does to me!) - so it should be genuine.

I do try to visit the gallery (LO's and hybrid!!) during the month, but I respond to the monthly 'leave love' challenge, 'cos I find it a good reminder to go and look at the gallery - but any love I leave, I do mean. Promise.
