It's March! My Mamu's death anniversary is towards the end of the month on the 27th. It's a very sad time but those who survived her are fortunate to be left with great memories. She will be forever in our hearts and in the attitudes and actions of each one of us - her family.

I'm doing an RAK in her memory. Im giving away one Shutterfly 8x8 book (20 pages) that you may tell the stories of those you love. (Shipping not included)

Mechanics are simple. Reply to this post with your fondest memory of someone you love and a rough idea of what you will use the book for (theme wise)

what a sweet thing to do... My best friend is getting married in April and I am working very hard to create a guest book for her wedding - this involves lots of scanning of pictures of her and her soon-to-be husband...a large project, but she is my best friend and it's something I wanna do for her!

I would love to make an album for my 82-year-old Grandmother. For some reason, she never thought she'd live long enough to see any of her great-grandchildren born. (she's very healthy, so we don't understand her reasoning). She even gave me my first-born's baby blanket she made months early because she was convinced that she would die before he was born. :(
But now she has four great-grand children (two of them are mine) and I want to make her an album filled with photos of her two children, four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren so that she knows how loved she is and that we expect her to be sticking around for a long long time.

This is such a wonderful way for you to honor her memory, you're a wonderful soul for doing this!

Since I got almost 1,000 pictures scanned a few weeks ago, I have LOTS of childhood memories that need to be scrapped. I would love to make a book for my mom as a christmas present with all those photos of us as babies, and all the holidays growing up.

OR, I want to get my fiancee's photos scanned and make a book for his parents for their anniversary.

Lots of ideas up in my head! Lol!
 
I started a paper scrapbook for my Mom over 8 years ago. It was all about her grandchildren (there were 6 back then, now 7!!!) She passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago last October so I would like to continue that book Digitally for my Dad and make it all about her, my brothers, their wives, me and my DH and the grandchildren.

To my Mom, her grandchildren were the center of her universe up until the day she died so I really want to do this for her..and for the rest of my family. She was the greatest Mom and Grandma and I still miss her so very much. I also think it would be great for my twins because they were only 10 months old when she died so they really do not remember her. Also for my niece Susie, who was named after my Mom but she never got to meet the BEST GRANDMA ever!!!
 
One of my fondest memories of my grandmother was that she was always right. If my grandfather said we should go north, she would say south. If he said it was going to be a beautiful day, she would say it's going to rain. Most of the time what she said was true, but even when it wasn't she had convinced herself it was. My sister and I still joke about how grandpa knows how to drive the best, but grandma always knew where we were going.

I'm trying to collect photos for a book for my grandfather. Before my grandma passed away my aunt bought her one of the Story Tellers Photo Books and I was supposed to help get pics together for it and actually print the book. Unfortunately that never happened and my grandpa still comments that she never got to see it and he probably never will either. While that book would do the job it is definitely not as nice as a hardbound Shutterfly book, so I have already decided to go with a Shutterfly one instead so that it will hold up for all the grandkids to pass around too.

P.S. My photos are ready, it's my out of state relatives that are the hold up. :)
 
Gloria, I understand where you're coming from. April 4th will be the 2-year anniversary of losing my Dad. He was only 64, and still very much full of life and passion at the time of his death. I would love to do a tribute album to him; I started to do one a year ago, but the emotions were still too raw and I didn't get too far.
There are so many fond memories of him; he was a great Dad. He would take me to movies that my mom wasn't interested in - and that's how I came to love the Star Wars series. He was a wealth of knowledge and the king of trivia - it was hard to answer before him while watching Jeopardy or to beat him at Trivial Pursuit, but it was fun trying anyways. He was a kind and loving father, and used to put me to bed with a bouncing-tickling song - I think that's why I have trouble getting to sleep even now 30 years later, LOL. I could go on and on with fond memories but there are too many. He was, as it is for many girls, the first man I loved.

I would love the album because I am in the process of working on a Heritage Album for my Grandfather. He is turning 80 on April 9th and when I went to visit him in January, he had all these fabulous photos from his family that he had me scan into the computer for him. As I was talking to my mom about how awesome it was to have the pictures myself, I came up with the idea to make him an album with all of the pictures in it. I love my Grandpa so much. My most recent memory is when I called him about 2 years ago to ask him if he was ok if we used his name as my son's middle name. He only had 3 girls, but always wanted to pass his name on, as his name had been passed on to him. He was named after his uncle, that was lost during WWI. He was kind of funny when I asked him and he could barely talk, but said that would be fine. About 10 minutes later my Aunt called me to tell me that he was so moved by it, that he was crying and she wanted me to know how much it meant to him, even if he couldn't tell me himself. He's a wonderful man and has left a wonderful legacy for my son.
 
Oh what a great way to remember your Grandmother.

I would love to make a book for my Dad who lives 12 hours away from us and has only seen my kids twice.
 
What a fabulous tribute to your Grandmother! My Nana died almost 10 years ago next month. I still miss her every day. I think this is a great thing you are doing!
 
This is really generous and i love reading all the stories. I am wanting to make a book for my mom/grandma. This year has already been so hard on all of us with my grandma getting diagnosed with liver/rib cancer and having to do chemo and stuff. While it's getting better, i still know that she would love this and i'd love to make the book about my mom, uncles, cousins and her great grandchildren.

Now my favorite memory has to be spending every summer going down south to visit my great grandma in arkansas. We always had a fun road trip with my 2 siblings and 3 cousins and my uncle. That trip always made my summer/year because it's my favorite place to be. We haven't been able to go down there since after my great grandma passed away in 2002 but I hope to get down there in the next couple years.
 
I lost all of my grandparents way to young!! My children never got to meet them!!

I would love to make a book of my grandpartent FOR my children, so they would know where they came from!! I had a cancer scare last year and I know life is too short and your number can be up any time!!

I was telling AGGIE yesterday over YM that I thought I was so deeply swallowed by my loneliness when I lost my grandmother who was more like a mom to me. We grew up under her care. Until I met you guys and realized that I am not alone. Thanks ::HUGS::

Anyway I just want to say that all of you had amazing stories that can move mountains.

Keep the posts coming. I was RAK-ing at another board where Im a member as well and there are smaller response there (READ, NONE, LOL!)

I might merge that RAK with this one as well.

That's extremely nice of you. I see that others would use the book for maybe more meaningful purposes than I would. My next Shutterfly book that I need to order is of my ds first year.

But, I would be happy to share a little about my grandma. I have never met anyone like her. She was truly an angel on Earth. She was such a "giver". She was the one person that would give me a hug growing up. There were many years while I was young that the only hugs I would get came about twice a year from her. She made each of her grandkids feel special, like they were her favorite. It was no wonder that even after I was married and had my first dd that I took a special trip at least twice a year to go visit her. She turned into my dd's favorite grandma. There will never be another like her. I live my life trying to follow the example she set for me. I sure do miss her!
 
This is so sweet of you.

The first fondest memory to come to mind is one of my little sister when she was about 3 years old. She sat on the back porch with our dog and "read" a story to him. It was a story about a messy rabbit - but she changed it to one about a messy dog so that he wouldn't be sad about it not being a dog.

If I had the shutterfly book I'd use it to hold all of the pictures from my trip to Kenya next month :)
