So my 7 year old was climbing a tree and "fell" and hit her head on a rock, of course she bleed like a stuck pig but with just a little bit of pressure the bleeding has stop...but even though it's small it is kind of "gappy" (I know totally not a real word) but just wondering what you all thought!?!?! THANKS!!!!

I would just use one of those butterfly bandaids over it and see how it does.. or that glue stuff, that I can't remember the name of for the life of me.. haha.

I can't see the image here at work, but your choice of stitches or not is probably going to depend on what kind of scarring will occur. If its on the face, i would most likely suggest a few stitches simply because it will heal better. Otherwise, as long as the bleeding is stopped and its not a GAPING wound, butterfly stitches or some skin glue should work fine.

If it were my kid... or me... I wouldn't get stitches... this is what I'd do:

Clean it really good with hydrogen peroxide (not going to lie... it will burn for a few seconds)... then put some betadine on it (again, burn for a few seconds until it stops bleeding)... and a healthy amount of triple antibiotic ointment. You will need to use a bandage that will keep it tight together so that the skin can knit back together...

Thanks ladies....I just stuck a butterfly bandaid on it...well after I had to drag them all to WalMart to buy some!!! :D

Hopfully it will be ready to take off by Thursday (the first day of school) cause she swear she is the ugliest thing in the world right now and she'll just DIE if she has to wear it to school!!!! *eye roll* :D :D

My daughter had a wound like that happen in June, and I swear that it is just now completely healing. I'm thinking she might have a scar for awhile.

I love the glue bandaid stuff, it's easy to do and beats having the doc do the same thing and tthen charge me!

BTW, when I first saw the title of this post I totally thought it was a digi LO you were talking about, not a forehead. :o I think I've been scrapping too much lately!
