Question for Designers- Lifebook

As a foster parent, we are expected to make something called a "Lifebook" A Lifebook is basically a scrapbook for a foster/adopted child to document their roots. It's something they can take with them in case of a disrupted placement...or when they leave the foster home to go back home. Sometimes it's the only thing that's truly theirs as they get shuffled from home to home :(
I noticed at foster support group, that a lot of parents feel overwhelmed by it (and can't digiscrap...and have never held a gluestick...busy...etc). I think it's a really important task for a foster parent. This might end up being the ONLY connection a child will have to his/her roots in some cases.

So I wanted to make a PDF file that they could just print and fill out for their kids. Just glue on photos and write on journalling...and done! I have TONS of Sweet Shoppe products from various designers...and wondered if I get permission from some of the designers here to use their kits to make this project and share it (flattened, of course) with other foster parents. I've started emailing a few, but it would be really awesome to just have a list here (or PM me, please). Lol...I'll continue emailing tomorrow if it isn't ok to ask this here. THanks!

Katie, I think that sounds like an awesome project! As long as you're sharing it with others as a flattened PDF, I don't have any problem with you using my kits for something like this.

So sweet of you to do that for the kids!!

as someone who has adopted a little one last year, I am even curious to see your project. Make sure to show us. :)
 
Actually that kit has been on my wishlist for a long time! LOL. Thank you all so much! I already have about a dozen foster families who want one. This started with making one for my son. He's been in my house for just a month, but he's just such a great kid. I'm already head over heals :D He's very excited about his book.

Here's photo collage of what I have so far. I'm on a CT for Jen Wright Designs so a lot of it is with her kits :) I'm happy to start using some other artists in addition now.

This is a beautiful idea. I am a child of abuse and while I never had to go to a foster parent... anything in the world that I coveted the most would be something like this. My mom was amazing and I was lucky to not have been taken from her.. she put herself in the line of fire a lot and did what she could. She would make little projects like this for us and it made all the difference in the world.

It tears me up to see this because it is always beautiful to know that someone is there to take some of the brutality of being an orphan away.

I am no designer but I've luckily gotten to know a lot of them here and I know they are all lovers of children and those who have not chimed in will probably echo the ones that have.

Children are our most precious asset... I am very much looking forward to hopefully seeing what you will do with this project!! And thank you for doing this for your foster children!! You never know how a little but of warmth will go a very long way. <3
 
I got the first 18 pages printed at Staples today, and my 13 year old LOVES it! I can't wait to share this with the other foster parents.
