Question about WW scanner and calculator

I have a bag of frozen berries from Costco - their store brand. So, the WW scanner doesn't read that bar code. When I use the calculator to figure out the points, it tells me it's 2 points per serving (which is 1 cup). But, if I look up the individual ingredients, they are each worth 0. It's a bag of blueberries, raspberries, and loganberries - no sugar added. So, when there is a discrepancy between the calculator and what you would get with the individual ingredients, what do you guys use?
 
Frozen fruits are weird. I don't understand why they are always points when there is no sugar added. I wonder if the freezing process brings out some kind of natural sugar that is then counted.

That's what I was thinking cause the scanner gave me points on my frozen peas and frozen corn too. Must be something about what happens when they freeze. Hmmm.
 
I would count zero, that's what my leader told me to do, if you can deduce from the ingredients list that there is no added sugar.
 
On another note...I have been having smoothies for lunch a couple times a week.

Banana, orange, a few strawberries, handful of spinach leaves and some Body by Vi powder.

Separately:
Banana - 0
Orange - 0
Strawberries - 0
Spinach - 0
Body by Vi powder - 1

Today I decided to put them into Recipe Builder so I could save it all together.

IT IS 7, yes SEVEN FREAKING POINTS!!! What I thought was a 1 point meal is actually 7 when all mixed together. Kinda puts drinking smoothies in a different perspective.
 
I don't get that Tracy. How would just mixing them together increase the point value? That doesn't make sense to me at all.
 
Tracy, it's a known glitch with the recipe builder. Per WW CS and my leader, you have to not enter anything into the counter that is a 0 point fruit or veggie, because the recipe builder doesn't know to count them as zero.
 
Good, I'm glad to hear that Lena.

It even gives you the explanation that some things may be higher when put together because it adds total fat, carbs, fiber and protein and then figures the points, but still from 1 to 7 is crazy.
 
I know corn has points, it's like 1 for a 1/2 cup I think, its one of the few veggies I like. Not sure on peas, but I'd think the same thing Penny.
 
Peas, sweetcorn and parsnips all have a point value so do things like edamame and broad beans drives me nuts because before weight watchers we put peas and sweetcorn in everything because we could get the kids to eat them without too much fuss now I have to stop and think if it's worth the extra 2 or 3 points per dish. Some things are just strange though like pointing spices and things not multiplying logically because of not having any half points. WW Bread for example is 1 per slice but 3 for 2 slices, but a thick white danish bread from the supermarket is 2 per slice but only 3 for 2 slices. Hugs Crystal x
 
Okay - well, here's another question. I'm making salmon tonight. So, I was making the marinade this morning and entering the stuff into the Recipe Maker. The point total ended up being a little higher than I was expecting. Then I realized that we don't actually eat all of the marinade. Most of it gets thrown away once I'm ready to cook the meat. So, how do you figure that kind of thing out? I guess I should have measured the marinade before I put the meat in it. Then, I could measure it again after I took the meat out. But, I forgot to do that. Any ideas about how to count points on marinade?
 
Guess. Lol I'd run the points on just the marinade. Then, I'd probably take something like a third or quarter of that total and add it the points for whole piece of fish... I really don't think that much soaks in. By the time you break it down by serving, I doubt it will add much unless the marinade is really high in sugar, which I'm guessing it's not.

I've been doing weight watchers on and off for 7 years of so, and I figured out a long time ago that a lot of it is just doing the best you can. You might figure low here and then figure higher elsewhere. It works out!
 
What is the WW scanner? Is it a physical scanner or an app?

What makes YOU like WW?

I've never looked into it ... had a friend that did it in high school and we made some food together ... but I'm such a picky picky and I mean PICKY eater (especially on veggies) that I never looked into it.

Sharon ... who is NOT going on a diet until after Cinco de Mayo ... as it's my 2nd biggest cooking day of the year. ;)
 
I like the flexibility it gives you. You can eat what you want, you just learn to eat less. There are certain things I am unwilling to give up (like coke), and weight watchers gives you the freedom to eat what you want. Of course, there are healthy guidelines they suggest you follow :) I like having a certain number of points available to me, and when they're gone, they're gone! Having that limit is good for me. I also like going to the meetings for two reasons - learning from others (things that work for them, foods they have discovered, etc) and it's motivating to see others losing weight.
