question about templates

I am wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of how to make a template? I dont save my layouts as a layered file. When I finish it it is only saved as JPG for printing and for web. Well I want to do similar layouts for the month in review but I do not have the layered layout saved anywhere and it takes so long to get it done the way I want to so I figured maybe I could make up a template to use for the month in review layouts.
 
When I want to make a template of a page, I select the item on each layer, flood fill it with a neutral color and label it appropriately. If I know I'm making the template in advance, I do it as I go along (separate layers from the actual layout). If not, I do it once the layout is complete and the layered version is saved. Just save it as a PSD or layered TIFF if you're working in PS.
 
I use PSP and have to save it as PSD or PSP. I already have the layout saved as JPG though and wanted to make a template with that if it was somehow possible LOL

Really when I make templates from existing layouts (like for TOTM) I just blow up the JPG and then create shapes that are the same size and layer them, rotate them, etc appropriately overtop of the layout...then delete the JPG layer, and you're left with a template.

I use PS so I'm not really sure what tools are available in PSP, but I assume you must have some sort of shape tool to create rectangles, etc.
 
OK that seems easy enough. Im gonna try it and see if I cant get the template made myself so when next month rolls around it doesnt take me so long to finish it. Thanks!!!!
