question about renaming files

I was doing some organizing today in my scrapping supplies and I tried to rename a folder to the name of the kit that is in the folder and it keeps saying I need permission to do this action. I give permission and it then says it is unable to continue. I tried it with a different folder and it didnt do any of this. What the heck is wrong with this folder? Is it something from the designer that keeps it from being renamed or maybe something to do with my computer? Ive never encountered this before

restart your comp and then go back to rename it. it should work like a champ.

Yup. Lizzy is right. Happens to me all the time and a simple re-start does the trick.

Are you putting any symbols in there? I know that when I have tried to put certain symbols in it - I get an error message.

Are you using ACDSee? It has a hard time letting go of files, so closing ACDSee and reopening could do the trick. It's worth a try before you completely reboot.

No Not using ACDSee...I just moved the stuff inside the folder to a new folder and deleted the old one which it would not let me rename. I dont think Ive ever seen it do that before. Was really weird.

Happens to me all the time, too. The computer thinks it's being used somewhere so, restarting does help eliminate the problem.

Instead of restarting, you can use this free program. You just right click on the folder and select unlock. That clears associations with any program, etc, and allows you to delete or rename.
