Question About Kits In Your Stash...

When you buy a kit do you scrap with it right away? I have so many darn kits that I have never scrapped with that it's crazy...I think I'm going to go on a spending freeze and just scrap with what I have right now...I'm embarrassed to say that I had a folder that had way too many kits that I hadn't even unzipped...Maybe if I organized myself better it would help!

You should definitely unzip them and make your "to be used" kits folder all pretty! Then shop from there when you want to do a layout.

I vacillate between using them right away and not. After NSD in May I had a ton of stuff that didn't get used right away - I didn't scrap for several weeks (months?) as I had morning sickness and I just didn't get to it. A few weeks ago I spent a big chunk at the sale and I used 2/3 of what I bought within 2 weeks because I was scrapping like a fiend.

I know for me, I tend to scrap more if I've got stuff 'on hand' so I will shop at sales when I *know* a kit is likely to be used by me - and then I shop my stash when I'm feeling scrappy.

But definitely - get to unzipping!

I have so many kits that I haven't used yet! lol! But I do have plans for all of them and know exactly which photos I'm going to use with each. I just don't have much time to scrap right now because of working on my store and because of being busy IRL with a 4-month old and a 4-year old. It doesn't stop me, though, I plan on going shopping big time this weekend! lol! :p

I have TONS of kits that I haven't used (from more than 6 months ago)...

So I decided a while back that I wouldn't buy a kit unless I had pictures ON HAND to scrap it with! The only exception to this is basic elements (date elements, clipping masks, etc).

THis way - I get the "reward" of shopping with each page I do!

I love it.

You are not alone. LOL. I have many I haven't scrapped with -- yet. I would definitely recommend unzipping and organizing them to make it easier to use. It will be much more fun when you can see what you have and "shop your stash".

Uf dah... I have kits that I purchased long ago and then see it come through on a GGG sale and I haven't used it yet!!! UGH! I always say, I have to stop spending until I get through the stash, but then those darn designers release a kit that I just *HAVE* to have!! So... *sigh* I will just continue to putt along... some day, either I will give up on that kit and get rid of it, or finally put it to use... ;)

Nowadays yes I do scrap with what I buy but that is because I am mostly scrapping with CT kits and it's part of my job. Sometimes I do, Sometimes I don't just depends on my mood.

I havent shopped in months and months because I dont have anything to spend so I use what I have and what I get from CT's. When I download for a CT I typically try to use it right away

My personal rule is that I have to scrap a minimum of 2 layouts per kit.

I always scrap at least 1 LO per CT kit right away - usually as soon as I download it. Then I add that kit to my "Kits to Scrap With" folder, which houses all kits that I haven't used at least twice (and many of which I haven't used at all yet).

Since I've been scrapping so much lately, I have been making a big dent in my "Kits to Scrap With" folder - but it's still quite full. I'm not that worried about it, though. I bought each and every kit either for a specific purpose (set of pics), or because I really liked it - so I know it will get used eventually. :p

I stopped shopping a couple of months ago because my not used folder had over a 100 folders in it. I have managed to get it down to about 65.

I know for me, I tend to scrap more if I've got stuff 'on hand' so I will shop at sales when I *know* a kit is likely to be used by me - and then I shop my stash when I'm feeling scrappy.

This is how I am, too. I shop mostly during sales, and I make sure to buy things that are my style and not too themey, kits that I know I'm likely to use multiple times. I only buy themed kits if I have a page in mind. Then when I want to scrap I shop my stash. Some new buys I scrap with immediately, others may sit for 3 months before I get to them.

That said, I'm trying to be better about buying right now. I've been so busy that I'm scrapping less, so I have more unused kits than I should right now. I've cut out most $1 deals and grab bags, because those grow my stash too fast and I buy things that probably wouldn't make my cut at full price. I still plan to spend on DSD, but I bought almost nothing in October and will probably do the same in December so I can get some of my unused kits used.

I'm not sure what's in my un-used kit folder but I'm sure it's at least 100!! :o I was doing really good at widdling it down up until my last month of pregnancy when I just basically stopped scrapping. But then again I haven't shopped in months so even though I'm not using them I'm also not adding to it either.......since the baby has been born I'm barley keeping up with CT kits so I have no idea when I'll get back to "regular" scrapping again...oh well maybe one day!!! :D :D

Up until the past month or two, I always scrapped with kits right when I bought them. I almost always did a page or two within the week following buying the kit. Now, with the addition of some CT's to my scrapping time and after shopping the GGG sale, I've got quite a few kits that I haven't had the chance to use. But I'm not worried about them getting used. I'm pretty good about just buying what I know I'll use or that I have specific pictures for already. Most of the time . . . ;)
