Fair warning: txt speak drives me crazy so I know I'm biased when asking this question. :p

Do you abbreviate everything and/or use things like 'u' and '2' when you mean 'you' and 'too' when you text? When you post online or send emails? Do you find yourself pronouncing txt speak acronyms as words like pronouncing 'LOL' as 'lawl?'

How do you feel abt (yup, I always abbreviate 'about' as 'abt,' which is weird, but I've been doing that since before I owned a cell phone so it's okay -- ha!) txt speak in general? What kind of impact do you think it's had on you? Your friends and family? The world as it is now? The next generation?

I always spell out my words when I text. Most of the people I text with do the same.

My personal beef with texting is when someone acknowledges your text with "k"... Really? I'm not important enough to type two letters? Geez.

I hate text speak, except for "LOL". I probably use emojis way too much but I love them!

I use lol (or any form of a laughing one rotfl, lmbo, lmao etc), i use 'k' only when i'm annoyed or angry with the other person, and on occasion i'll use ttyl or ttys when ending a conversation. Other than that I can't stand it... Especially when that is all they use for everything, but what I can't stand even more is terrible spelling and grammar. I am not the best at either, so i don't mean the odd mistake here and there, and i'm no grammar police, but when it's every word, every time i just can't take it.

*snort* This reminds me on Modern Family where Phil tries to be hip and says, "WTF - Why the face?" haha... that is the way I feel - I don't think I know enough txt speak to do it.... so I type all the letters, get super annoyed when auto correct changes what I'm writing. My hubby is the same way... except he will ALWAYS end his messages with "LU" for Love You. But he has been doing that before txt speak was popular... ;)

I try to type properly when I text, because I find myself annoyed when people abbreviate when they text me, except for LOL, of course :p

I don't generally use it while texting. I actually usually use proper grammar and punctuation while texting, too. I do use lol and lmao and ones like that though cause they make sense. I also use K often and do not understand the hatred of it. I also say K out loud and would much rather someone text me a K then ignore it and not respond. At least it's a response.

There are a very few I use, like LOL, but most of what I text has proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. The people I text do the same, but they're all in at least their mid-30's.

Very sparingly and only with text messages, not in email or any other writing (except 'lol'). I personally think it dilutes the content and I unconsciously (or maybe semi-consously, lol) think less of the author. I'm also not a fan of reading text where there is no use of caps.

Generally I use proper grammar and punctuation. Sometimes I get far too long-winded (to the point where it should really be an e-mail), so then I try to shorten it up a bit. If I see that it's only about 5 characters between having 1 text and 2, I'll try to shorten it as well.

I do use lol sometimes, as well as btw. U and 2 are the worst ones, in my opinion. ;)

True story.... I was in a waiting room awhile back and this mom and teenage daughter were in a debate about this issue. The girl was rolling her eyes and saying stuff like, "Mom, NO ONE spells out whole words in a text." and the mom was stating her position, that it's laziness and waters down conversation and all that. About 5 minutes go by and, I kid you not, the girl (who was typing a text) says, "Wait. How do you spell party? With an 'ie'?"

I laughed. I LITERALLY LOL'ed, ha! It was perfect.

True story, I always know when my mom is sending me a text because I get multiple alerts one after another. She is so long winded! It cracks me up.

This is pretty much me - I type everything out except for LOL type things. I use K also and every one I text does too. Not only do I type out everything but due to my job I tend to never use words like can't, won't, I'll and instead I type cannot, will not, I will because I have to type them out for work. All my friends think that is funny.

I do tend to abbreviate when I'm texting my teen daughter - I'll use UR, R U, TTYL with her for some reason.

Drives me crazy. Once in a while I use something like OMW (on my way) but mostly, LOL is the only text speak term I use. I hate abbreviations for things.

I was just on Instagram and finally found out that Gn, which my niece has been posting for weeks now, means goodnight! So no, I'm not much for txt speaking
