Qotd: Journaling question: Do you journal in the past or present?

Do you journal in the past or present on your pages? And why?

I'm always having trouble with journaling throughout my album. When I scrap pages for an album I want to print, I try to journal in the present, but I sometimes I get lost and find myself journaling in the past. My journal is something I really need to focus on when scrapping.

I am horrible when it comes to Journalling.... I try not to worry so much about whether I write in past or present, or if I write "talking to my readers/kids"..... what I am notoriously bad for is mixing them all together, start writing in the present and then end up in past tense or bouncing back and forth..... I end up doing a LOT of revising before I'm done and I don't journal all that often lol.

It depends. If it's a letter to my son then it will be present. If it's about an event or a memory, it's in the past :)

Usually it's present tense ('you'/second person) as if I'm sitting with my children as I make the page and am telling the story to them as I scrap.

If it's a reflective now & then kind of page or a page from my childhood, the journaling would be in past tense.

I suppose I journal in the present of the photos that I am scrapping. So if the photos were 10-years ago, I journal from that day's perspective, making it the present. Maybe that would classify as past if I understand correctly?

I do the same as Lee Andra. If it's a page about my daughter (which it usually is ;)), I journal as if I'm having a conversation with her. Otherwise, it just depends on the subject. If I'm scrapping about a previous event, I scrap in past tense, but if it's a scrap therapy page or current event, I scrap in the present.

I also do what LeeAndra does... present tense, as if I'm telling them what is happening in the photos... if I'm thinking back on my own events or my feelings, etc then it's past.

It's present tense if I'm scrapping photos that happened recently. It's past tense if I'm scrapping photos from when the girl's were little.

I don't like journaling but I find it is super important... So most of the time I'm not happy with my journaling because I say not really important things.
Most of the time I write to my children and in the past like telling a story but I did some at present, to be honnest it's more a question of feeling, I never think of it so thank you, I'll pay more attention to this!:)
