PSE7 Question

I am just starting to use PSE 7. Prior to this, I was using PSE 3 and then PSE 4. I liked having just one layer at a time and me being able to click on them in the photo bin and then put them all onto my page. Now, I get all the layers open at the same time -- and I keep having to move them around and minimize and maximize... and ... just wondering if this is how it's supposed to be or if I'm doing something wrong?

well I'm not sure since I'm still using PSE3 (have 6 but refuse to change....STUBBORN :D) but I want to bump this for you. I think the photo bin went away in PSE5, I know 6 does not have it one of the reasons I refuse to upgrade I love my photo bin to much!!!

Maybe edit your title to say PSE photobin question...that might get more bites!! A few of the girls here that I know that use PSE5 and higher are Lizzy, Jenny (Lilcameronsmommy) and Jaedyn (scrapperjade). You might do a shout out to one of them too...it might help!!!

Hope you figure out a good work around....I know I dread the day I upgrade to Vista and HAVE to give up my beloved PSE3!!!

I don't know what the photobin is- but it may be the same as the project bin in PSE6? I don't know- (I have PSE6 & CS4)
What 6 (and I'm sure 7) has, is the projectbin at the bottom of the workspace- where you can see all your photos (or whatever) you have open- and each of those can have their own layers for editing.
If you want to put them all on a layout, you can drag them to the layout you're working on, and then you'll see them all in your layers pallette. Does that make sense? :p

I upgraded to PSE6 from PSE3 and the Project Bin is the same thing as the Photo Bin in PSE3, it works exactly the same. I'm not familiar with PSE7 but from a quick search online it is supposed to have the Project Bin as well.

Claudia it sounds like you may be in the wrong view mode, try going to Window > Images > Maximize Mode and check that one and then you should be able to see one file at a time with all your open files in the Project Bin showing beneath. If you're in Tile or Cascade modes you see all of them open at once in your work space. HTH :)

Hmmm yes I do see the Project bin which looks just like the Photo Bin in PSE 3 and 7... But in PSE 3 or 4, I was able to click on the photo in the bin area and it would make that the layer I was working in.

But in PSE7, I'm not able to do that. I have all my pictures and papers and whatever is open all open at once. So I have to click and move around until I get to the picture or paper or whatever that I'm trying to put on my main scrapbook page.

Shawna --- I'll try your suggestion once I'm home today. It sounds like that may be my issue....

I did however try the extraction yesterday and it was WAY easier than PSE3 or 4. so that I like LOL.

I think I may know what you're talking about! I have PSE6 and it happens to me occasionally, where I open a number of images with PSE and they all appear in the workspace (not photo bin or project bin) as smaller images and not a single one filling the work space. Here. I have screen shots to help explain, if this is what is happening to you.

All you have to do is click on Window in the tool bar at the top (where you see File, Edit, Help, etc.) and then select Images, then select Maximize Mode, not Tile or Cascade.

Thanks for the screenshots! THAT's my issue!!! I can't wait to get home now LOL. I was thinking hmmm this isn't so fun..... i like the old one better.

It appears that right now, I am in Cascade mode....
