PSE6 text question

Ok, I have searched everywhere for an answer and am stuck...

Sometimes when I try to add text to my LOs, it won't let me. I click on my LO and the little black dot appears, but not the flashing cursor. If I start typing, the layers palette will show what I typed, but it will not show up in my LO. I'm stuck on 3 LOs right now b/c I can't add text to them.
Any thoughts?

I am not really sure, but I have PSE4 and I have to take the text and drag it to a square to make a box, then I can type. When I am done I have to click the check to approve the change.

This sometimes happens to me too, but it's because my text is underneath something and needs to be moved to the front of my layout.

Yep - I've stranded many lines of journaling under various papers. Click and drag the text layer to the top, and your text will hopefully show up.

Nope, double checked. My text layer is on top. Have even tried to put the text on another page and drag it over...no luck...
