PSE 8 help!!! PRETTY PLEASE!

I am about to pull out all my hair and I need help. The OCD in me is going a little crazier than usual and I am hoping that someone out in this sweet community can tell me that I am not alone and they get my pain. Even better if someone can help me fix it.

Here is the issue:

I recently upgraded from PSE 6 where I was comfortable and loved life. I was able to pull in everything that I wanted to open and minimize it to be in my neat little work bin at the bottom of the screen.

Well, in PSE 8 I am still wanting to scrap in the same way. It is not working so well. It is making crazy little boxes along the bottom of my screen! It is blocking my layout and won't let me have access to my "apply" button for drop shadows. Seriously.

Please tell me there is a way around this. I am on the verge of taking PSE 8 off my computer and going back to PSE 6. HELP!!!!!

Here is a pic of my screen.....

Is this making sense to anyone? Oh and btw.....that pic is my sweet new little niece, Lillie Jane! (Yes, proud aunt bragging! LOL)

I can't get it to recreate the tabs like you have. I did figure out how to turn of the snap to, but that doesn't help huh?

There is a reset panels under window, did you try that?

I have PSE8 also...let me go play. I know exactly what you are talking about...cause I've been annoyed by it too. I'll try to figure it out for you... :)

Ok, for ease, I just pulled in a whole alpha to show many different elements pulled in to PSE.

So you start out like this when you pull them all in:

Then, when you "minimize" them all, you get this which is the screenshot you showed. You can see I have a red circle around the "arrange" button in PSE in the shot below. Click on that little arrow and then click on the first "large rectangle" in that pull down box:

And like magic...you get this. It shows your bin and you can work from that:

Hope that helps! :)

Oh Heather!!!!! I could just kiss you!!!!!!! Thank you so much! I am forever in your debt. :) Now I am off to happily scrap without pulling out my hair! :)

Thanks!

I hope that is what you were referring to. Glad I could help if it was.

I know that feeling of being so frustrated when you know it should be able to be done and you just can't figure out how. Happy scrapping!

You can also pull out the panels (layers, styles/effects, etc). That's what I like to do so it's not stuck on the side, then you can move them around. You can even minimize--make them into a little tab--and it gives you so much room. I just go back and forth a LOT. :)

I'm glad you got it figured out. That can be so frustrating especially if you forked over the money to upgrade.

Wow, it looks like a cross between PSCS3 and PSE6 lol! I couldn't stand pse6 with the bottom bar. I also don't drag in everything at once. I drag and place item by item so I'm of no help at all. I hope you got it fixed :) (ps usually when I have a ton of issues I save what I'm working on close photoshop. Sometimes a good restart of ps helps tons.)

glad you got it fixed. i have pse6 so i had no idea. but i REALLY want to upgrade. i think i might next month.
