Guess who came in 3rd place at the school spelling bee this morning? Woo hoo! Yep, Kendra placed 3rd out of her entire middle school (she's in 5th grade, and this was her first spelling bee).

She'll go on to the county bee in February now. She is soooooooooooooooooooooo excited.

Here's the funny thing... she wasn't even supposed to get to be IN the bee because she was a runner-up in her class. But the winner has been absent all week, so Kendra studied her words and was ready. It really was an awesome bee. They actually ran out of words (they had a list of like 100-something words to study). So they had to move on to a list that the students had not studied.

Yay!! I'm so proud of her. She was a nervous wreck, and I just prayed that she wouldn't be out on the first word. LOL!

She gets a plaque, her picture in the paper, and she gets to go to the county spelling bee.

awwww....Libby Lou!! that is so freaking cool!!!! gooooo Kendra...what an amazingly smart girl you have there!!! wooohoooo!!! i hope she goes all the way and blows the other kids out of the water!!!
 
yay, how exciting!

I actually remember going to the county spelling bee. I was sooo nervous. Got knocked out in the 1st round. I still remember the word I missed . . . it haunts me to this day . . . dulcet!

As a former senior captain of my high school Spell Bowl team... it does my lil' word nerd heart good when I hear abt other people who can actually spell & enjoy it. :)
 
That's great! Being a good speller is a great thing and to be able to get up and do it in front of people. Congrats!
 
Ahhhh, congrats! That is a moment to pat yourself on the back and say "I am doing a good job"!! :p We just had our spelling bee yesterday too.
