Project 365 2010 - who's with me?

What they did and recommended at like Weeds and Wildflowers was to not necessarily take a picture and if you forget or are sick, etc. jot down a memory or something and then put that in place of the photo on your page. (A journal card or something with your story for that day..or snippet, etc.)

I would like to do it too, but I also need a plan! i would just hate to get like say 7 months in and have the stomach flu and forget to take a picture and then it'd be all for nothing. What do you do if you do miss a day or what have you, but want to continue? :)

I think it depends on your focus but for me, I'm more focused on capturing the overall story of the year than I am about making sure I take a photo every day. So I have no problem taking filler shots on other days to fill in for days I miss. I always take extra photos of things that could work
for any day too. Plus screenshots can be a quick substitute for photos as well.

I'm all about flexibility when it comes to this project though.

I just had an idea for those looking for a monthly project. How about a top 10 list a month (ya know, for 2010)?

One person could do top ten photos, another the top ten moments and a third could change up the prompt each month. February could be top ten favorite romantic movies, for example. Endless variations on this list-based, lower stress angle on P365.

If I forgot I'd take a picture a day or so later of one of the kids favourite toys at the moment or a piece of their art work etc - I figured that these photos help to document our everyday life and that every photo didn't have to have a person in it and the only person who knew that that photo wasn't taken on the day would be me! ;) As already mentioned you can also just journal about your day in the photo spot instead. If I missed the odd day it didn't bother me because my album still documented our everyday life - it would only become a problem if it became chunks of life at a time .... although if there was a reason ie sickness then noting that and then picking back up when you could is all part of real life!

I'm going to try it, too.

I'd like to scrap weekly and to choose one kit for every month. But I have to look for some templates for the weekly layouts.

And I think it's completely ok to put journaling or photo from another day that week or screenshot (I love that idea, Lynnette!) when I miss a day. It's 365 days and when like 12 are missing, only 1 each month, it's still very good. It doesn't need to be perfect. :)

Ugh. I WANT to do this. I really do. But.. I suck at the actual followthrough. I am going to try again though!

Me too - I'm thinking this year I might do a POTD tied in with my move so basically I'd start on the day I move and go from there.

I'm going to do this again. Last year I made it to February. Ha ha! But I'm getting my blog set up and everything. I WILL do it. :) Right?

I think that I am going to try this too - Jay will be gone all year and it would be a great way for him to see whats going on day to day - I think that I will shoot for once a week and be happy if I get more and make Sunday after church my blog day for all the pics. I also got Misty's templates and LOVE them. They will really help me organize the pics.

Thanks for the info on the Book of Me, girls! That is something I'm definitely going to do.
As for the p365, lol, I'm getting worried I won't be able to stick to it after reading about all your experiences from this year... Maybe I'll just go for it, and if it doesn't work out, I do like the weekly ideas, and Misty's templates for Month in review look cool too!

Meg talked me into it. I"m in this year too. I have my prompts bookmarked and everything!

You should totally share what prompts you have bookmarked, see that is my problem with doing it, I don't know what to photograph! I don't have children and I'm always working lol!

OK I set up a journal today. Went last night and bought a composition book for me and one for my daughter. Here is what I am planning for my P365:

January:Resolutions (pictures that represent what resolutions I made or prgress I make on my resolutions)
February:Things I love, couples (have a few cute ideas for this one LOL), basically going on a valentines theme for the whole month
March:something green (st. patricks theme)
April:animals of all kinds
May:flowers (because april showers bring may flowers...yes I know Im a dork)
June:summer pictures (bbq, beach, sunsets/sunrises, swimming etc)
July:red/white/blue
August:school related stuff....books/school supplies/first day back to school/schools I attended/schools my kids attend
September:things with wheels (cars, trucks, wagons, bikes...we go to alot of car shows so this should be easy)
October:Halloween/scary stuff
November:things Im thankful for
December:holiday/christmas stuff

now in each month I will do the following:
1st: gas prices at the same station
9: picture of my husband
11: picture of my son Matthew
13th: superstitions
16: picture of my daughter Crystal
18th: picture of me
28th: picture of my son nickolas.

I figure this way I will take some days where I might now be able to think of something and I am leaving leeway to break from the theme but will try to stay with the theme in general. I am really looking forward to this!! Oh and my daughter is joining in. Not sure she will be posting or doing any layouts but she is doing the photos and going to ask her friends to join her as well.

Jessica...I'm pretty sure I'll be stealing some of those ideas. lol

And Laura...thanks for that link...I'll be saving that as well!

Add me to the list of people who are gonna steal some of these ideas from Jessica. :)

Wow, great ideas, Jessica! You've inspired me a lot.

I may add to my list also:
- something that belongs to each family member
- favorite toy of each of my kids that month
- some views of our garden - it's pretty new, so the changes are very big; I plan to take a photo of it from our balcony and then one particular corner which isn't finished yet and should be done in 2010
- some place in our house
- something that I use every day and love it
- a tree - I'm going to choose one tree and take a pic of it every month to see the seasons going
- our puppy - we're bringing it home on January 8th, so it will be great to document its first year at home

I've seen Cindy has a set of 6 templates for weekly layouts, so I probably will go with them.

I also want to pick a kit from Penny Candy for each month, at the end of the previous month as a reward for a finished month. :)

Such a great plan Jessica - I love the idea of the picture of the kids on their birthday!! What about one of you on your birthday?? I am totally doing that!

Love your idea Jessica!!!
I really want to have a family picture every month of us - and self-portraits of each of of us per month. That is not too high of a goal isnt it? :)

These are all great ideas. I like the idea of taking a picture of each child, DH and myself on our birthdays so that gives me 5 pictures a month! One area I struggle with is getting pictures of DH and I together, so I'm going to make sure I have one of those at least every month too!

Take the pictures of you and DH on your anniversary every month. I had planned on doing that starting right after the wedding, but I haven't had a chance yet. So that's my plan. So on the 6th will be a picture of Jordan, the 11th a picture of us together, and the 23rd a picture of me. :) I've done this the past 2 years I've tried to do P365 and I really like it. For one, it's nice to not have to think about what picture to take that day, but I love the idea of documenting ourselves more.
