Prayers for Naomi please! (warning:graphic photo!)

Awww poor Naomi, that looks incredibly painful :( I'll send p&pt her way for a successful procedure on Wednesday!!

Awww, poor sweet Naomi!! She will be in my thoughts and prayers!! Hopefully the surgery will bring her lots of relief!!

My son had the same thing in January this year. They first thought toe nail and then discovered it was Impetigo (school sores) which is a contagious skin infection usually caused by either Staphylococcus or Streptococcus bacteria. This is why it spreads so quickly and needs immediate antibiotic action for treatment. My doctor says that little kids have a tendency to pick at their toes. All it takes is a small tear/cut on the side near the nail (from a hang nail or torn nail) for the infection to occur.

Here's my sons toe

yuck...Really hope that the surgery knocks it out and helps make it stop hurting!! My son had soemthing problems with his foot like two years ago. His actually start at the ankle but worked itself around the toe area and under the foot. He had to see the doctor three times before they finally got a good course of action to help it clear up.

Aww... I hope this heals quickly. My oldest DD has had this problem several times and twice had the toenail removed. Soaking it in Epsom Salt and warm water helps to break that up and allows the medication to work. Since the last time, we learned why... she was wearing shoes which were too small for her. My mom was really bad about this because my DD loved to play with her shoes, or they would find a pair she like and get the smaller size if they didn't have her size. I'm religious about making sure she has the correct size shoe now and not allowing her to play in shoes too small for her. My mom now has a couple of dress-up shoes in her size for her to play in.

Awww, Poor little girl. I hope all goes well and I'll be keeping her in my T&P's. That looks so OUCH.

My "BIG" <cough, cough I mean hubby> baby did some major damage to his toe omg...the pics are too gross to share! ROFLMBO! I shared them once in a chat (was it here??) and all the girls almost puked! LOLOLOL!

Yes, the surgeon said that in all likelihood this happened because Naomi wears crocs almost exclusviely and crocs=she can put them on herself. and she can put them on herself=they are often on the wrong foot and we don't always catch it right away!

definately try to warm epsom salt soaks - will help draw out the infection and keep it clean. and will feel soooo good on her poor little toe!!!

I can look at that kind of stuff UNLESS it is my own child!! Last year my dd stepped on a metal rake - and yepp, as it gushed blood out of the snake holes, Mom almost passed out (and I'm a NURSE!! LOL

just a thought you could write little arrows on the inside of the shoes either with nail polish or a permanent marker and tell your daughter that the arrows have to point to the inside of her foot and towards the other arrow to try to help her remember which way they go...I figured she is probably still to young to know left/right really well so the arrows would probably be really easy for her to pick up

That's a great idea Jessica!

I hope the surgery goes well Lena. And I'm sooooo glad they're gonna giver her versed before. Kassi was hilarious on that stuff, she acted like a drunk. It was at least a moment of comedic relief and calmed our nerves to see her all goofy. And so nice that we knew we wouldn't have to hold her down or any of that mess for them to put her under. Everything will be fine Lena, Hugs and prayers to y'all!
