Background...I am a secretary at a middle school that is divided into three wings of 400 students and approx 40 staff in each wing and I am the secretary for the "Green Wing". There is also a Red Wing Secretary and a Blue Wing Secretary. In addition to all green wing clerical, I am also in charge of truancy and will be adding entering the new discipline system data this coming year.
There is also a secretary in the main office. The district abolished (eliminated) the secretary's job in the main office on Monday. They created a Tech Clerk position that she is not interested in. By union rules she can bump anyone under her seniority date. I am a "Secretary 3" who does not work summers. Secretary 1's and 2's work all year. She was a Sec. 1.
I found out today that the secretary that was displaced is actually considering bumping me out of my job...I'm one of about 6 options she is considering, although there are 15 people she could bump. If she can financially afford to have summers off, I'm a strong possibility. And if she wants to stay at the middle school, I'm her only option. I know I should be thankful that there is a position open at one of the elementary schools (but it's out in the country) and I won't be out of a job (usually when a position is abolished, someone loses their job, but no one bid into the elementary school secretary's position that is retiring), but I LOVE my job at the middle school and I have a great rapport with my teachers that I'm in charge of and I would absolutely die if she bumps me! The option she has if she stays year round is the head secretary at the high school. There are many positions she could bump into at our board office, but she worked there in the past and doesn't want to go back there.
For those I've talked to directly, they say I can't control the outcome and to give it over to God and that everything happens for a reason. I figure the more people I have praying for me, the better...so please pray that I stay where I know I am supposed to be. I am truly in the job I am supposed to have.
Thank you!
