Please pray for my Johnny

My 16 year old was hit by a car in the school parking lot yesterday morning. His injury is severe but not life-threatening. He fractured his upper femur near the hip in two. I am thanking God that his spine, head and internal organs were not damaged. I don't even how how they're aren't considering he ended up UNDERNEATH the truck. After he was stable he went into surgery and now has a rod embedded from his hip bones down to right above his knee. He was taken by ambulance to a level 1 hospital that would be able to treat him immediately. It was the longest hour of my life trying to get there. I did not deal with it well, I have to say. I didn't know what the injuries were until I got there, so I was hysterical. I have never been so terrified in my entire life!!!!

The surgery went perfectly and now it is about managing pain and getting him to keep some food down and on his feet. Once they are sure he can move around on his own and eat he will be discharged, so hopefully tomorrow. He is being so brave.

I would be freaking out as well. Stay strong mama! Sending you lots of hugs and well wishes for Johnny. I hope his recovery goes quickly. Thank goodness he didn't injure his head!
 
THanks, girls. Dh spent the night so I could stay home with Eden. We're getting ready to head back down there.
 
Oh my word! You poor thing. You must've been absolutely beside yourself. I'm glad to hear that everything is going as well as can be expected. Praying for Johnny!
 
I'm so glad his injuries weren't more serious but I'm so sorry it happened. I would have been out of my mind. Sending you lots of hugs and keeping you all in my thoughts.

Oh goodness. That is frightening! I am glad his injuries were not more severe & I pray he will be on the mend quickly. You all are in my prayers.
 
OMG, I've talked with some friends and the rumors going around school are CRAZY! One is that he was run over by all four tires. Also that the driver was messing around and being stupid :huh: The district superintendent just called for an update so I hope those rumors clear up soon. It truly was an accident.

He is being so brave. I can't wait to get him home and set up here. I believe this is going to be a long road.

Wanna know the stupid thing? I've actually wondered if/how I should scrapbook this. LMAO! Only a scrapbooker's brain would go in that direction.
 
oh my gosh Val! What the heck was somebody doing driving so crazy and fast in the parking lot that he ended up underneath the truck?! I'm so glad that whoever hit him responded fast though and that he made it to the hospital quickly. Here's to a speedy recovery!!!! Many prayers for you guys! I would have been a complete mess too

Oh my goodness...so scary!! I'm so glad he is ok. He definitely will have a long road ahead of him recovery wise. Hang in there!
 
Oh my! I would have totally freaked out! I'm not good with something like this. I would have completely lost it!! Sending you lots and lots of hugs and prayers!!
 
Ugh, I'm so sorry. My nephew was recently hit as well, so I know that terror. I'm glad he's doing well, all things considered.

oh my good, dear Val..... how scary! so glad that the surgery went well and the injuries are not so serious! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!!
 
Oh Val, how terrifying for your boy! He is in my prayers for sure. A couple of years ago my girls and I were in a car accident that wrote off the vehicle we were in. I scrapped it with photos and lots of journalling, and I'm glad now that I did.
 
That sounds horribly frightening! I'm glad his injuries aren't as bad as they could have been. Sending positive thoughts for your son and your family.
