Hi guys,

Wondering if anyone could help me - I want to get a program to help manage all my digi files. I have absolutely no clue and have tried to google but just ended up more confused! LOL :p I think I would like to be able to tag files so I can find things easier . . honestly I just dont know, as I dont know what programs are capable of.

So if you use a program that is awesome, please share the best points with me!

thanks heaps :)

Donna - if you're on a windows 7 machine - you can actually tag in explorer (I tag the previews) and don't need a separate program.

Ditto to Darcy. Or if you have Adobe's Creative Suite you can do it in Bridge too. Or I think PSE can do it in the organizer.

I like to use Windows Live Photo Gallery (which comes on Windows 7 or is at least a free download), but I'm not a huge tagger, but I know it can do tagging. Just be warned that tagging .PNGs you might lose your tags in the future. That's why some people tag the previews instead of every element.

I use Lightroom and I really like it! I like the way I can do searches and save the results so that I can do the same search again really easily. There are lots and lots of other reasons that I like LR, but I'm too tired to think of them right now :(

I also love ACDSee. There is a class taught by Kayla Lamoreaux over at Jessica Sprague's site. I have bought it, but haven't taken it yet. I took the old class that was offered over there and found it very helpful. I'm just not good at figuring out the ins and outs of a program without some direction.

I use OneNote to organize and Tag. In fact, I recommend you google "use Onenote to organize and tag" and I bet you'll find another digiscrapper that does the same thing. That's how I learned how to do it. Now, when I am ready to scrap a certain set of pictures, I go to my OneNote and search for a topic. Also, when I am shopping for kits, I can double check OneNote to make sure I don't already have that kit. That has saved me some money! OneNote comes with Microsoft, I believe.
