Please explain...

how you make an image clickable? I understand how to link to words, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to link to a picture. I see lots of people linking their layouts in the sneak peak threads and challenge threads and am wondering how it is done.

Can some one please explain before I lose my mind???? I've been trying to figure this out for a long time.

when I paste my IMG code from Shutterfly, I just hit Ctrl + A to select my code and then click on the hypertext link in the formatting bar (the link and globe icon), then link it to wherever I want it linked to.

It's the same if you are hotlinking an image except you use the img brackets (mountain icon in the formatting bar) and paste in the url of the image you're hotlinking.

I'm NOT the best person for explaining so someone else may tell you an easier to understand way. :p

highlight the img code for your picture and then click the little url button & add the link to your layout in the box that pops up.

does that make sense?

Yes that makes sense, but do you always use another site to paste in your layouts from? Because I have just been copying and pasting my actual layout I post in the gallery, so then I don't have an img code for my picture (or do I?). I don't always upload my layouts to photobucket. Maybe I am doing things all wrong to begin with.

Is this also how you can resize the image you post in the threads?

I always do it like this:
~ Open a new tab and go to my image I want
~ Copy my image (right click your image, click "Copy Image Location")
~ in my response box, I click the "Add Image" icon
~ then I go back to my tab that has my image still open, and copy the address link
~ come by to my reply, highlight my whole image code, then click the "Add URL" icon, and paste in the address URL.

Done!

ETA: Just read your response! Yes, you can add photos to threads from ANY gallery (and not use photobucket). You just have to right click and choose Copy Image Location. Easy peasy! Go give it a try! You can link it up here and we can see if you did it right!

oops, sorry. didn't realize you didn't know how to get the img code. so i skipped the first couple steps. :o

Ok, so now I think I am just really stupid. When I right click, I don't get the option to copy image location... I can copy, but not "copy image location."

The only options I get are:
Save picture as...
Email picture...
Print Picture...
Go to My Picture
Set as Background
Copy
Add to Favorites
Properties

What am I doing wrong??? I am usually NOT this computer dense.

Copy Image Location is only available when you right click an image that's online, not on your hard drive. :)

Thank you!

So this means that I cannot link an image that is on my hard drive. Is that it?

If that is the case, I am happy and will stop trying and just know that I need to upload it to somewhere online to be able to link to my image.

The image needs to be hosted somewhere in order to link it, so you'd be out of luck for anything that was still on your HD. HTH!

oh, what browser are you using? you won't see 'copy image location' in IE. that's a FF thing. in IE, you'll need to go to the properties and highlight the url to your photo. then come back and paste it in your post using the little icon that looks like a mountain... and then highlight all that and link it.

^^someone who uses IE might be better at explaining that. :D
