We NEVER get snow where we live. Just north of us, it's a common occurance, but living here (in what is known as the River Valley), it always misses us. Sometimes we get a light dusting, but that's about it.

So last night, we got about 3" of snow. It's the good wet snow that's great for snowballs and stuff. Unfortunately, the roads are just fine, so the schools are open. But since we never get a snow day, I'm letting Kendra stay home with the neighbor girl.

So, I'm having mixed feelings -- I'm letting my child skip school! What am I *teaching* her???? On the other hand, this is a very rare thing around here, and I want her to get to stay home and enjoy it.

I guess I'll stop overthinking it, and just enjoy my day at home! :)

Awww, Don't fill bad Libby!
Sometime they need a personal day too!
I give the boys one personal day each semester!
Zak always takes his between football and basketball(on a day when there is not practice, he's pretty smart) and Connor takes his whenever...
If there is SNOW then she should get to play!
I hope Kendra enjoys her day, and that you don't feel too guilty, you can go out and snap some pictures!

LIBBY!

YAY for you!

This is a memory that will stay with her forever...seriously. I still remember the few snow days we ever had as a kid, and this is a memory in the making! Sure, skipping school is never okay for just silly stuff, but gosh - it's snow - and lots of it for us!!

You go out and play with her and all have a wonderful time. You'll love it!!! Then go out to lunch...make it a great day for the both of you!

oh I love the idea of a personal day off from school!

have fun with the snow

(I think I'd like snow a whole lot better if I only saw it once a year or so LOL)

DO NOT feel guilty, I do the same thing with my kids. Each of them get at least 2 days off school each year (depending on their grades and how many "real" sick days they have had)

At my DS 2's school, they do incentives for perfect attendance. This year the 5th graders are in the running for a new bike if they had perfect attendance from the beginning of the semester until the end. So far so good for him but I told him I would let him stay home 1 day after it is over.....He loves school and never wants to miss it but he is excited I am letting him do it...The older one is another story............

I hope you get a lot of pics and that she has a really fun day.

That's so fun! I wouldn't feel bad at all... everyone needs a day off sometimes and just think, it will be a great memory fr her! Take lots of pics!

Just enjoy the day Libby! Every once in awhile, totally random, I let Benjamin stay home just to hang out, or to go out somewhere with me. I think that it's nice to spend time together sometimes, and if it was going to affect his schoolwork, I wouldn't. I think with snow being so rare for you guys, I would just go and enjoy it with her! Of course, if I kept Benjamin home every time it snowed here, he would have been off school most of the winter LOL

have fun today!!

we've officially only had one "snow day" but if it is just too perfect of a day, I don't feel bad about keeping the kids home once in a while, or of course, on the other hand, if the weather is too nasty (or gonna change to nasty during the day).

awww LibbyLou enjoy your day with her!!! Don't feel guilty :) Even kiddos need a personal day every once in awhile

don't feel bad, that same exact thing happened here in Jan and I let my 2 kids skip school as well...the roads were not good by my house and I don;t know how the main roads were, but I wasn't going to make them go find the snow route for the bus! Plus it was a non-workday for the base so I stayed home with them and let them play....everybody deserves a skip day here and there~

Look at it this way sweets - you're teaching her to enjoy the little blessings that nature sends your way sometimes. I'd savor the moment with your child and have fun!
