pink eye?

Ok girls. I need your advice. I woke up this morning with what I'm assuming is pink eye (great.). And I'm so bummed because my son's play at church is this morning and I of course can't go.
SO... what I need to know is this:
can I wait until tomorrow (monday) to get to the doctor or do I have to go to an urgent care for meds today? I really don't feel like spending $100 to get some eye drops but I also don't want to wait until tomorrow if thats a really bad idea, ya know?

Thanks in advance!

Is it just pink & stingy or has it got a thick crust/goop with it? If there's no goop/crust, it's more likely that you got something in your eye overnight.
You won't need to go to urgent care - you can wait until tomorrow. Just be sure to constantly wash your hands in case it is pink eye.
I'm not a doctor or nurse, but I've had conjunctivitis/pink eye so many times that I've been through the drill.

yeah, it was basically glued shut this morning with that lovely goop. And its very watery/runny and quite sore. I'm almost 100% sure its pink eye and I've decided to just go in to urgent care in about 45 minutes. I hate paying $100 for eye drops, but I also am quite uncomfortable and don't feel like waiting another 24 hours for some relief.
Plus, the sooner I get antibiotics, the less chance I have of passing it to my kids.

That really stinks Jenny! Hopefully you'll feel better after you get some drops. And maybe this way your kids won't get it.

Ohh honey ick, I know how uncomfortable that is. We had to deal with that when Lily was a baby!! I hope you get some relief honey!

I actually have pink eye right now (oh joy). The doctor said it doesn't even need to be treated because it will go away on its own. They like to treat it in young children though because it's so contagious. She also said that if the eye isn't producing goop or liquid, the chances are smaller that you'll pass it on. I'd keep the plans you have and just wash wash wash. That's just me though. :)

Jenny, wash your pillowcase, blankets, and anything else that would have touched your head or face in HOT water. Also, wash your hands a lot. That will help prevent the spread.

ooh, yuck! I hope you feel better soon! And remember to throw out your mascara if you've used it lately.

Oh, and don't mind me, I am just gonna be spraying this place down with lysol! :p

If you have a CVS where you live, try their "minute clinic". Its ALOT less expensive and much faster. My step mom used it for pink eye and was in and out in 20 mins and that included getting her script filled!

Oh Jenny, that totally sucks! My sister and I used to get it all the time as kids. I remember boric acid helping a lot.
So who farted bare a$$ed on your pillow? :p (This joke is only funny if you've seen Knocked Up.)

Well, I went ahead and went to urgent care. My eye really is hurting a lot and I didn't want to have to wait until tomorrow for some relief. I got some goopy ointment from the doc that should clear it up. He said it looks like its starting in my other eye so I have to keep an eye on that. I stripped my bed and pillows and such and threw out my mascara. I also got some disinfecting wipes and have been wiping down every hard surface that I've touched today.
This really sucks girls. I've never had pink eye before. I had no idea it was painful!!

aw Jenny, I hope the meds work quickly to make you feel better.
not sure if it is something you guys have available over the counter down there, but I keep Polysporin eye/ear drops handy always, it helps relieve pain with pink eye, it's always worked for us.

Pink eye totaly sucks, Sorry girl, The ointement will get you some relief asap, it usually takes about 2 doses before you notice a real difference. Hope your eye doesn't crust over to bad tonight!

Yucky pink eye is no fun neither is the goopy stuff....just make sure the applicator doesn't touch the skin or you eye for that matter(ouch) because it can contaminate the tube and cause a reoccurance of the pink eye.

Is this something else I have to look forward to when I have kids?! Yuck. :p

I've never had kids and I'm still very prone to it - I would get it at least once or twice a year when I wore contacts. Now that I wear glasses exclusively I haven't had an outbreak, probably because I'm not touching my eyes so much...
