Picnics with kids....

We are going to the Aquarium tomorrow (10:30 is when they feed the sharks ) and after going on a picnic...

So besides the normal sandwiches and chips, what are things you'd pack for a group of kids? I know they are bored already of fruit snacks and cookies.

I will have our two younger ones, 12 and 8, and the two I babysit, 9 and 3.

Thanks for any suggestions.
:)

Apples and oranges. Fruit holds up so well. Make a treat like a brownie, they also pack good. :)

grapes in individual baggies and pop a couple bags of popcorn and make them their own little bags...these 2 things we take on almost every trip we go on :) and what about a little sugar treat (something you can buy in a little baggie and they can have if they are good ...kind of a reward)...another thing my kids love is the individual applesauces.

My favorite picnic to pack is the "disassembled" one. A loaf of crusty bread (something fresh from a bakery is the best!), sliced cheeses, grapes, apple slices, salami and rolled deli sliced ham or chicken, and carrot sticks, sliced bell peppers, and cucumber with hummus for dipping. Also, some sort of sweet treat like cookies or brownies. :) The kids love it.

Totally grapes! That is our favorite. :) And I am very jelly that you are going to the Aquarium without me. *going to the corner to pout* heehee

I've been told if you freeze grapes they are an especially nice treat on a hot day. I love grapes, but lately they are hard to get unless they are tiny and bitter. I like them big, fat and juicy. :)

Another vote for string cheese and we almost always take pretzels too, we love pretzels!!! I usually treat my kids too and get them their own bottles of flavored water!!! Our favorite is Aquafina Strawberry Kiwi!!!.

sandwiches or pepperoni/salami slices + cheese cubes
grapes or apple slices
pretzels
Gogurt
raisins
juice in sippy cups/water bottles/something with a leakproof lid
a ridiculous amount of napkins + baby wipes

I usually let my kids do squeeze its, raisins, pb&j, cheese its, and teddy grahams. My kids don't do chips. :/

I'm another fan of frozen grapes - even if they don't stay frozen, at least they'll be kept cool lol Aside from that, I'd just say avoid anything too salty.
