I am working on a page and my file is huge! So huge it won't save... Do any of you have tricks to make the file smaller without loosing quality?

Are there things you can merge together? If you can do that, decreasing the number of layers will shrink your file. Good luck!

Are you trying to save it for internet use? You need to merge all files and then shrink it down to a 700X700 pixel box before doing that (at least for use on this gallery).

If you're just trying to save the .psd file, I've never had the problem of it being too big! I don't know what to say!

If you are trying to save the layered file and you have papers clipped to paper shapes (say... in a template) you can merge those down to make the file smaller. You can also save your layered file as a .TIF and those are much smaller than .PSDʻs.

Also, usually if it won't let you save, that means you might need to clear up space on your computer and/or reboot it. Usually a reboot fixes it for me when that happens.

Thanks. I will try merging some layers. It is a template with a ton of layers so hopefully that works. The file is currently over 2 g!
