Personal scrapping style question!

So I was replying to Jennpages topic about what we do on our layouts over & over. And I replied that I use multiple papers layered as my background, that I journal and try to always have a nicely displayed title.

Then I got thinking that those 3 things I started after I joined this community. I saw so many layouts with amazing title work, lots of journalling, and I loved the multi-paper backgrounds that I saw in the gallery... so thanks to all of you for inspiring my everyday layouts! I'm so happy with the pages I make now, and I know its because of the beautiful gallery here!

What new things have you picked up from here, or what inspired you? Has your style changed? Is there anything that you finally "got", that you couldn't seem to "get" before??

One thing I tried to do was match everything to my pictures. Doing that, I ended up with layouts didn't really pop or stand out, especially the photo portion of it. It just all blended.

One thing I took from the gallery here was how to pick complementary colors, and when you do that, your photos just pop off the page. I still like everything to match my pictures, but I've learned that being too "matchy" isn't a good thing. That's made a big difference to my pages.

From the Cookie challenges, I became a template addict. I never used to use them and now, they're probably the start of most of my pages.

Def lots of layering. It's funny how SSD's gallery is so different from someplace like DST or MSA. There's definitely a scrapping/designing style here, and that's why I love this place!

I have learned SO much since getting here. My style has totally changed and evolved...and I SWEAR it's from doing challenges. Especially for me doing cookies, lifts and the neopolatin...kind of made me get outside of my scrapping "comfort zone" and look at things differently. I layer more, use elements more creatively....and just thinking outside the box more.

Definitely layering and use of patterned papers. Seriously this is the only place that seems to actually like patterned papers!! I am eclectic in my style (I do realistic, I do blended, I do artsy, I do fantasy...) but I keep coming back to the layered pattened papers and elements LOs. It just seems like that is my comfort style (like comfort food)!!

oh yes, I changed my style so much! Before my layouts looked beautiful, but doesn't tell a story and I had difficulties to scrap with not so perfect photos but here I learned to tell a story with my layouts so that I really preserve memories with it! I learned layering esp. working with many papers :-) oh, and I learned to try hybrid here, with the awesome templates from Heather and Bree!!!

I think my style ever since I began scrapping has been similar to the style we see here at SSD. I've always been a paper -layerer (I invented that word just now lol) I LOVE papers and when there are so many beautiful papers in a kit I can't stand to just use one or two so I layer them on whether it be backgrounds or strips under my photos. And I LOVE big bold title work..most of my pages have always had a big ole title thrown on there lol...That's why I love it here :)

Lots of layers and paper strips. I'm big on circles too. I just put a whole pile of stuff on a page until it looks good LOL! It's a far cry from when I started, I was a 1 photo scrapper for a long time.

I have changed a lot since I started here. I was barely into scrapping when I found this place. One of Misty's kits is the first kit/digital item that I ever purchased. I have loved the challenges and I believe that is how I learned to blossom. I think that I have come a long way. At first my LOs were very simple. Now I have figured out shadows and I try to put as much of the kit as I can on a LO. I try to use as much stuff on a page without it looking too overboard. I layer a lot more. The gallery and challenges have been very inspiring!
