Some background...
Gosh, 17 years ago Jamie's bestfriend's sister was in a terrible accident. She was run over by a car while crossing the street. She had been a athlete and honor student. When the paramedics arrived they began cpr to no avail. Some how, she gasped for breath and they then air lifted her to Children's. She was there in a coma, on life support for 89 days. On the 90th day, all support was going to be removed. On the 89th day she awoke. She had terrible brain damage, broken bones, etc. She was never the same after the accident and was always really hard on herself.
This family is like our family. We vacation with them at least 10 times per year. Last week we went camping out in the desert with them. The girl, Kim, got into a little accident with her quad. They really didn't think much of it since we all ride into things out there. Well a few hours after her accident, she was in the shower in her motorhome and fell out. Her parents found her on the floor and she had vomited. This girl has a history of seizures, so they didn't think much of that. All this week she began to loose control of her left side and mom knew that she had to get her into the doc. Kim just recently had a cat scan and her insurance company was refusing to do another. Her mother demanded a cat scan late last night. Thank goodness she did. Kim is headed down to St. Joseph's hosipital on a life flight. She'll be going into emergency brain surgery.
Please keep this girl in your thoughts. She's like a sister to me. She's had so much to deal with in her life that I can't go into. I'm sitting here hours away from where she is wondering if I should just drive down there to be with her mom, it's not a realistic thought and I really can't do it.
