When it rains, it pours.
A few weeks ago I asked you guys for prayers because my dad passed out in church and was in the hospital for a couple of days- it turned out to be that his heart went out of rhythm and that he wasn't eating with his meds like he should have, but at the time we feared it was another stroke and some more serious heart issue repeats.
After that, my grandmother went to the doctor and found out her COPD is getting considerably worse- she's been put on oxygen. We went out of town to visit her and help her through that.
And now today, we're planning on having to go out of town again next week, because we just got a call from my grandfather. Earlier in the week he called saying he wasn't feeling well. He went to the doctor and they did a lot of tests, then found he had a spot on his kidney. He went back for more testing and they found out that the spot was a cyst, and that his entire liver was a major cause for concern. Today he went back again and found out that he has a rare form of cancer- at best, his life expectancy is 5 years, but most likely, we're looking at less than 2 years.
We're going out of town next week because he has surgery. His insurance doesn't work with the hospital that specializes in this sort of surgery, so they are having to sort that out, but as soon as he gets approved for it, he is headed there for surgery- they said if the insurance were working with them, then he would be getting surgery today, not next week.
It doesn't look good. It's really hard to face this, too, because for a long time my grandfather and I had some major differences, and we were barely speaking. In the past year or so, we've started mending our relationship and really working to get past things, and now this... It's just sad, and difficult. It's not something that I'm ready to deal with.
Please pray for him, and for our family.
