We found out today at the kids' well-checks that Dom has a heart murmur. The dr. believes it's an "innocent" murmur but he didn't seem sure and ordered an echo to check. I've got to busy myself and stay off of WebMd or I'm going to give myself an aneurysm. Say a little prayer or whatever for him, if ya would. I'll keep y'all posted when we know more.

First - get off of web MD.

Second, a large handful of children enter kindergarden with heart murmurs that have gone unnoticed and that they just grow out of. {I married a man with a freakish gene that causes A LOT of heart issues - it runs in his immediate family and seems more prominent in the women/girls}

A large portion of these murmurs in kids - they just outgrow. It's freaky and scarey, but I am thinking about you. KUP.

WebMD never takes the power of prayer into concideration! Of course you're worried, but I have faith he's just fine! You're in my thoughts.

Hugs Annie! I'll keep you guys in my thoughts. Like others have said, lots of kids have slight murmurs and they grow out of it no big deal. Hopefully that's all it is :)

sure will honey and i totally know what your going through. lukas had an 'innocent' murmur for 5 years...echo's every 6 months etc. it finally closed up and he is/was a-ok. your little dude will be too!!

HUGS!!! don't freak out. k.

Big hugs, I know exactly how you are feeling right now, my little girl had to have an Echo this past Monday, and thankfully everything checked out....but I almost had that annuerysm you are talking about just from reading on the internet. I will pray for you little man.

Meri's doctor found one at her 1 year well check. It was never heard before. They are required to have it checked out if they hear one. But I know most times it really is just innocent. The other thing that was reassuring was that she told me that alot of times they aren't discovered until they are 1 because that is around the time they start to close. And because it gets small the pressure of the blood flowing by makes it sound louder. She had a consult and the cardiologist listened to it(though it was hard enough to keep her calm for it). He said that at this age its really difficult to keep them calm for the echo and that she would need to be sedated for it. From what he heard of her heart he recommended a revisit when she is 3 years old when she is more reasonable. And he didn't recommend restricting her life in any way. So a long story short, I've been in your shoes, I worried myself sick and it turned out to be nothing too big. At her 15 month well-check her pediatrician couldn't hear it anymore. Sending lots of hugs and prayers for just an innocent little murmur that will close up on its own!!!!
