Out of gas?

I went to run some errands and stopped for gas today to find that almost every station in this county is out of regular and mid-grade gas. I always fill up (even though it hurts the wallet) so I hadn't stopped in almost a week. I heard my mom say something about it, but it was just so weird to actually see it for myself. Luckily I found regular at one station. I don't recall this happenening during Katrina or ever in my life time. Not a good feeling to see the "out" signs.

Anybody else out of gas in your town? I think this is just an issue in the southeast USA right now, but I was just wondering.

Amy, I heard it was a problem in the Southeast. Atlanta is having a really hard time right now. Here in Houston, we're back to pre-Ike gas prices (and even a little bit lower).

Sorry you're having troubles in your area. :(

WOw, I have never seen a place be out of gas. That would be so frustrating.

We have gas in VA. *snicker*

Last week there was some concern some stations around here might run out but it seems to have passed. *snicker*

Ever since ours went up 2 or 3 weeks ago, both our shopettes have been out like every other day, and they haven't been carrying mid grade or premium at all. There's also been a 10 gallon limit set!! The price has gone back down some(to about 3.80 gallon, it was down to 3.43 before Ike, then jumped to 4.59) So even capping off at 10 gallons per person, they're still running out every other day. Crazy!!

well..I'm in Atl and NOBODY has gas...it's not as bad this week as I've seen it..on Sunday I was down to 1/8th of a tank and worried about getting home from church. QT had gotten some gas but it was up to 4.29 and about 80 cars in line..Luckily I went to my hole in the wall Chevron and got it for 4.09 with no lines..they had just got some inand luckily not a lot know about this station b/c it really is in the middle of nowhere lol

It's really bad here..people fit etc in the lines..blaming others for cutting.

I went to church tonite and there was hardly nobody there..i'm sure the gas shortages are partial to blame..people can't afford to spare any gas they have

It happens here all the time. We always use midgrade because we have a ping when we use regular but sometimes even midgrade is out. I just saw on the news that there is a gas shortage in the southeast although Im not really sure why

Lots of gas stations here run out of gas, but it isn't seeming to increase our prices - they just aren't able to keep up with the demand (which is weird, because you'd think demand has gone down?)

We were out for almost a week and a half around here in nashville--it was SOO ugly--at least over here on our side of town...don't know about the bellevue crowd?!?! UGGH it was terrible--the lines for gas I have pictures i'll have to post at some point :)) gotta get them off my phone it was more than horrible...my uncle went driving around following a tanker on our side of town ((Sad right?)) and called us immediately to go and get gas--since my light was on---I didnt take my mom 100% seriously when she said to fill up since it was due to be bad---makes the millionth time i shoulda listened..but she was in alaska i had to wonder how she knew LOL!! :)

So glad nothing like that has happened here yet.... I hate living like this. I wanna go back to the 80s when I was a teen!!!

Yes, very bad here (NC).

That's where I am too, eastern part.
So far we've got NC, GA, TN...anybody else? I wonder what is behind this? btw, we're still at 3.89 for regular :glare: not as bad as Atlanta but still ridiculous.

I'm about 45 mins north of Megs and we haven't had gas in many places at all for 2 weeks. We couldn't even do much over the weekend because we couldn't fill up anywhere. Jules finally got some at ONE of the local stations that had some, after waiting in line behind 30 cars. Crazyness.

More western part of NC, here. I've lived in quite a few places, the furthest east being Burlington...are you familiar w/ that area? I love NC people!
Yep! My bestest friend of 26 years lives in a little town called Haw River. :)

We haven't had any shortages here in MS. I did see a blurb on the news that said the shortages depended on which gas companies provided gas for which areas. We didn't have gas for weeks after Katrina and it was awful. Now though our prices are actually down lower than they were before Ike.

WOW! I had no idea some places were out of gas. I haven't heard anything like that from around where I live in New Hampshire. That is scary considering I fill up twice a week!

Im really sorry you guys have to deal with that, what a mess! Im in CT and havent had any problems here but have seen the news coverage about how you all have been struggling that way. I hope it gets better soon!

Unlike Europe and larger cities in the US, here we have ZERO public transportation. Even in places like Atlanta it's not like they have buses running out to the suburbs or some huge transit system capable of serving the masses. There's one cab company located 30+ minutes from where I live. So when we run out of gas, that's it. Unless you got some good tennis shoes or a horse you're just stuck. I'm off to go check it out today and do what the experts hate- top off. The other car is dead on empty so wish me luck.
Megs, don't you work from home sometimes (hoping you do considering the gas deal)? I hope you and Manda are ok over in ATL with no gas and all. And the rest of you girls. It's weird to just be stuck, like no way to get to the store and all of that stuff. Ewwwww this is freaking me out a bit. My dad is one of those blabbering old dudes who is always saying this country will eventually be like the wild west again (gee wonder where I get it from) if things keep going the way they are. So you can imagine him and his buddies have been yacking up a storm about this. They don't like having to park the 4 wheelers LOL

Sarah, I didn't realize you were in CT! Man with you and LA in driving distance I really need to go on a road trip!

We haven't had a problem in Oklahoma City. We filled up the truck this morning for 2.93/gallon. DH says when he crossed the TX border on his work run gas jumps up to about 3.50.
